Event Description
The after-party to the Friday night Girls on the Run of the Shenandoah Valley Sneaker Soirée!
After dancing all night in your best sneakers at the Soirée, Shenandoah Valley Runners and Girls on the Run of the Shenandoah Valley invite you to a light recovery run/ruck/walk around Old Town Winchester. The featured guests of the Soirée will also be the highlight of this after-party!
Leading the warm-up session will be Zoey Coleman who is a teen author, public speaker, and pageant titleholder from West Virginia in the Miss America Organization. She is a self published author of two books that promote confidence, movement, and positive self image among young readers. Zoey is also the youngest Pilates instructor in West Virginia, using wellness as a platform to empower youth through healthy habits. Through pageantry and community involvement, she is passionate about leadership, scholarship, and making a lasting impact.
Leading the ruck/walk will be Betty Kellenberger who in 2025, and at 80 years old, became the oldest woman to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail! For over 2,000 miles, Betty carried a backpack with a base weight (weight before adding food and water) of 18lb! As an optional challenge, walk a few miles in Betty's shoes and come with a backpack weighing at least 18lb. We will have scales at the start to weigh packs for those that want to participate.
Leading the run will be the founder of Girls on the Run International, Molly Barker! Girls on the Run International is a transformational movement that has empowered more than 2.5 million girls across North America since 1996. What began with thirteen girls running after school in Charlotte, North Carolina, grew into a globally recognized program blending movement and life skills to build confidence, resilience, and belonging. A lifelong athlete and sought-after speaker, Molly continues to inspire girls and women to live with courage, authenticity, and bold possibility.
We will meet at Doppio Bunny Coffee (located inside Vibrissa Beer) in Winchester at 8:30am for some brief introductions, instructions, and a warm-up. At 8:45am runners will set off on a run with multiple route options between 2 and 5 miles (exact route will be shared before the event) and the ruckers and walkers will join Betty for a 2.5 mile trek along some of the Winchester Mural Trail.

Both groups will finish back at Doppio Bunny Coffee around 9:45am for a hot drink and a meet and greet with Zoey, Betty, and Molly.
Although this is a free event, to help us prepare and plan, registration is requested.
