Race to be held virtually
Hi all! Due to the current closures and safety precautions being taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Shining Stars 5k will be held virtually instead of as a physical race. In short this means that you will run the race on your own, submit your time, and then receive a medal and other goodies. The benefits of the race will still be going to Bright Futures of Winchester/Frederick County, who need a lot of help in the current situation. Even though running a 5k virtually will not be the same as a physical race, it will be a good opportunity to challenge yourself, get out of the house, and help children in need in our community during these hard times.

Description
The Shining Stars 5k and mile has now become virtual! Register before April 18th, 2020 and submit your time by emailing shiningstarsresults@gmail.com by May 2nd, 2020. Results will posted, but just for fun and verification, there will be no rankings. All participants will receive some sort of swag, but as of right now that is underdetermined due the fact that some business partners are not operating during the current COVID-19 closures. Any updates will be listed here and on our Facebook page. All proceeds will still go to Bright Futures which is heavily affected by the current situation and could greatly use our help! Although a virtual race is foreign to many runners in the community, this is a great opportunity to experience a new type of racing and help those struggling during these hard times.
