Wheels for Jacquie Virtual 5K

Welcome to the Wheels for Jacquie Virtual 5K. We are so excited for you to join us in our fundraiser! Please note that you do not need to reside in Vermont to participate in this event. The Wheels for Jacquie Foundation was started in November of 2020 in an effort to help the differently-abled obtain accessible transportation...a basic need. All proceeds from the 5K will go toward funding an accessible vehicle for Jacquie. 

Our fundraising goal for this 5K is $5,000. Once we have achieved our goal for Jacquie's vehicle, we will continue our work to help other differently-abled individuals and families obtain accessible transportation.

Who is Jacquie?

Jacquie is a 23-year-old college graduate who independently navigates society with her wheelchair and her assistance dog, Moose. She is a world-traveler and an advocate for differently-abled individuals. Jacquie was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Dystrophy at the age of two. She wants to be able to transport herself and her service dog, Moose, wherever they need to go.

Relying on others for all your transportation needs, even a simple trip to the grocery store is not only frustrating but not sustainable. Due to the equipment needed, her wheelchair-accessible van will cost around $60,000. Your contribution will help us fund a vehicle that fits her needs.

Important Information about the 5K

The race will start at 8:00 AM EST on May 08, 2021 and will end at 10:00 PM EST on May 09, 2021. Since the 5K is a virtual race, you can complete the race whenever you would like between those times wherever you would like. 

Race Registration will open at 8:00 AM EST on April 5, 2021 and will close at 11:59 PM EST on May 08, 2021.

It costs $25 to register for each race except for the 5K Kids Race which costs $15. We would love to have kids 7 and younger participate but there is no need for registration. You can report your results on our Run Signup Results page. The 1st place winner of each event will receive a prize which will be mailed after the 5K.

Giveaway

For this 5K, we are giving participants free Wheels for Jacquie Medals as a thank you for helping us achieve our fundraising goal. We will do our best to get your medal to you prior to the race. If you get yours prior to the race, we would love to see photos of you with your medal on race day along with any fun photos from your event. If you reside in the greater Burlington, Vermont area, we can deliver your medal to you directly if you would like. If you live outside the greater Burlington, Vermont area, we will mail you your medal.
