Course and Water Station Monitor High Priority

Details

Volunteers assisting as course monitors will be helping with one of the most important tasks of the evening: directing the participants along the race course. Volunteers who are under 18 and assigned to this role will be placed in pairs with an adult along the route to cheer on the runners and walkers and staff the water stations. Training will be provided on race night.

Oversee the four large water tanks. Responsibility of making sure there are plenty of water cups filled with water on the table so that runners can grab a cup without having to fill them up. (Those with water bottles can fill those themselves.)

Please be mindful of which shift you sign up for and any other commitments you may have on race night. Due to the nature of the course in the Baylands, it is not possible to leave early. Depending on where you are stationed you will not be able to leave until picked up by our staff between 9:15 and 9:45 and returned to the volunteer check-in tent.

You will be provided with a race t-shirt and a safety vest, plus a lanyard with key personnel contact phone numbers. Bring your charged cell phone, a warm jacket and a flashlight.

Minimum age is 15 years old or 10th grade.

Check-in at the Volunteer Check-in tent at the corner of Embarcadero Rd and Faber Place (across from the Honda dealership.)

Registered course monitor volunteers will be emailed a parking pass for the lot at Embarcadero and Faber. Show the pass to the police at the barricade on Embarcadero Rd.

Lead Course Monitor (Must be over 18) High Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Lead Course Monitors will be helping with one of the most important tasks of the evening: directing the participants along the race course and monitoring for any problems or injuries. Volunteers signed up for this role will be placed at key turns along the race course. For this reason, volunteers in this role should be 18 years or older. No experience is necessary - all training will be provided on race night.

Due to the nature of the course in the Baylands, it is not possible to leave early. Depending on where you are stationed you will not be able to leave until picked up by our staff between 9:15 and 9:45 and returned to the volunteer check-in tent.

Late Registration/Day of Registration (Must be 18 or over) High Priority

Volunteers helping with this task will assist participants with late registration and day of check-in for their race, and/or register on-site. Bring reading glasses if needed.

Start/Finish Line Crowd Control High Priority

Details

This is a fun task for volunteers who would like to be located in the heart of all the action. At the start/finish area, volunteers assisting with this task will cheer runners as they finish their race, help aid in keeping Geng Rd clear for incoming finishing runners, moving walkers to the side.

Bag Check Monitor (Must be over 18) Medium Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Volunteers assisting with bag check will help facilitate a bag check for race participants. Participants will be able to check in and check out their warmer layers or other items while they participate in their race. This is a customer-facing role.

Refreshments Medium Priority

Refreshments volunteers will assist at the post-race participant refreshments table on the baseball field with tasks such as cutting up fruit and pastries and overseeing the food tables.
