Tear down everything in the registration area and pack up. Place tables in truck first in the back, then everything else on top of them. Get rid of ice water, empty containers are stacked, tablecloths returned to container, etc.

Remove Race Course Signage - 5K Course High Priority

Details

Make sure you have a vest first. Have someone take you to restroom #10. Need to remove all race course signage including any flags in the ground, signs and posters. Signs are stacked neatly with wire intact, posters are neatly rolled up. Bring a wagon, provided. Foothill Flyers will tell you when last runner has passed and it is safe to begin removal.

Location

Start at restroom #10, (water station area) and go in same direction as runners so that you will cover half the course. End at registration area.

Remove Race Course Signage - 1K Course Medium Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Be sure to have a vest. Start at water station #10 (someone can drive to the exact spot and drop you off) and head back towards registration area where race began. Retrieve Parking Lot/Driveway Signage Low Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Picking us signage on the street showing people where to enter (2),collecting ground signs directing people to registration area (4)collecting swinging (1)/sandwich signs (3) in parking lot showing people where to go to get to registration. Pick up cones that reserve parking spots for those in the Durfee parking lot. There are 5 of them.

Location

At street entry of Durfee and Santa Anita parking lots. Also inside the parking lot directing people to the registration area. Bring back to registration area.

Lunch Pickup Medium Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Pick up donated food from Olive Garden and return to park. Set up one table as a serve yourself table, with paper plates, napkins, etc. All salad in one large bowl. Pasta, one container mixed with sauce the other once the first one is gone. Additional plates, napkins and flatware are in a container labeled LUNCH. Find a box or bag to use for trash and throw all away when lunch is over.

Must have each person volunteering PRINT their name on the vest sign up sheet and indicate the time they are signing in. All volunteers need to have a vest and return it at the end of their shift.

Set Up High Priority

Get a vest and proceed to help unload truck, set up tables (according to schematic provided) then put tablecloths on them (in the colors indicated) and signs for each.

Transport Helpers High Priority

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Get a vest first. Need to help carry items from cars in the Durfee parking lot to the registration area. Must have at least 2 volunteers at parking lot and 2 at the registration area at all times to go back and forth. Need to transport registration materials, raffle baskets/prizes and coffee. Dollies, wagons and carts are provided.

Durfee parking lot and registration table area.

Snack Table Medium Priority

You must be 10 or older to volunteer for this task.

Registration Area Checkin - Packet Pickup Friday High Priority

Event Day Registration/Check-In High Priority

Details

Must know how to use RaceDay CheckIn app and practice before race day. Get a vest and be assigned by task coordinator to either checking people in OR pulling the packets. Not both. Problems on race day handled by task coordinator.

Water Table Station High Priority

You must be 13 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Go to registration area to sign in, get a volunteer vest, find task leader. Leader will have 6 cases of water, cups, table, table cover, chair and ice chest items for your to take to set up water station near restroom area #10. Look for pink flags to indicate where to set up. Need to be set up by 8:30 am.

Parking Lot Monitors High Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Get a vest first. Stand in the two parking lots on each side of the water station (restroom #10). Stand near sidewalk and make sure no kids get off the path. Watch for cars that may get close to them.

Cheering Section Low Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Get a vest first. Hand out all cheering items provided to the crowd and encourage them to make noise with them. We don't need them back, they can keep and take with them to cheer on the 1K runners. This is not a task for someone who doesn't like to talk to people or be loud. You may have to show them by example so that the crowd cheers loudly

Location

Area leading up to the finish line where the crowd forms. Give out to people on both sides of the trail. When 5K is over, do the same for the 1K at 10:30 where their start/finish line is.

Peppermint Boost Station Medium Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Get a vest, report to the designated area with the wipe canisters and gloves. Stand in the areas shown and hold out a wipe over the running trail for runners to easily grab. Keep giving wipes out until the last participant has finished. Then pack up and return to registration area.

Location

Around mile 3, area will have pink flags along the race trail to indicate where to stand. Near restroom #4.

Sound Station Medium Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Get a vest and then pick up the Bluetooth speaker sound system and iPad. You will need to know how to turn system on and play the provided play list. When list has played start it over again. Face system towards runners so they hear it as they come by. Stay with the system until all runners have passed (Foothill Flyers will tell you when the last person has come by). Start the music when you see the first runner coming and have it at full volume (30). When done, make sure it is turned off and return to the registration area.

Location

Near mile 3 of the course. You will see 4 pink flags with pink tape around them that indicate where to put the speaker. Make sure it faces towards oncoming runners. You will be across from light pole 129.

5K Medals Medium Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Setting up table with all medals before the event starts. Ice chest is next to medal table, with water inside and ice poured over it. Once 5K runners finish hand them their medal. Do not go any closer to the finish line, stay where the ice chest is.

Timing Results High Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

As official results come in, bring them to the stage and give to me then go back to the timer and wait for more. You will need to be quick so that placement awards can start being given out.

Locate timer (Fusion Timing) and stay with them until first results are released.

Age Division Medals Medium Priority

You must be 50 or older to volunteer for this task.

Go to stage when names are being mentioned (approx. 9:30) and give the medals to announcer so they can go to the person awarded each one

1K Medals and Finish Line High Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Make sure 1K medals are at the 1K finish line along with stuffed animals, hand stamps and bubble machine. Guide spectators to the start/finish line to cheer.

1K Followers High Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Follow behind last 1K participants to then end and then turn around and retrace the route, removing all signage along the way. This includes signs in the ground, flags and any banners (roll them up neatly). Take scissors and a wagon to assist on the way back.

Raffle Basket / Prize Package / Trophies Medium Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Get a vest and report to the raffle basket table. Know the procedure for selling raffle tickets (do not need a pen). Set up baskets according to value (low to high), set up trophies and put equipment package on table. Know how to give prize package tickets out to the school teams and have them sign they received them. Be aware of the schedule of events and make sure schools know the giveaways will happen after the 1K and to stay to receive the baskets, 1K Amazon gift card, trophies and equipment package. Someone watches cash pouch at all times. Be there to help pick winners for the prizes, awarded in value from lowest to highest.
