Event Signage Setup - Morning Of (5:30 AM - 12:00 PM)

You must be 21-60 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

When you arrive at Curtis Hixon Park at 5:30am, find or call Jacintha, CCC's Marketing Director (727-403-8472).
Help put out yard signs along the race routes (5k and 1mile) and assist in any other way needed.
When you're done, go to Registration are to assist elsewhere.
• Assist Jacintha (Marketing Director) in hanging signage in various areas, as directed
• Help Jacintha break down signage at the end of the event. Some signage will be thrown away. Other needs to be rolled carefully, or stacked accordingly and taken to the truck, as directed

• Welcome guests and direct them to bathrooms, Family Fun Zone, refer to event schedule
• At Guest Services – Hand out document for community service hours to participants and volunteers
• Give Runners/walkers a 2 hours form (must be wearing a bib)

• Give Volunteers an 8 hours form (must have volunteer name tag)
• Encourage students to volunteer in the future, and sign the information sheet.
• Thank them for their service!

• Familiarize yourself with Event map
• Stand around Registration welcoming and thanking folks, offering assistance such as:
• “Registration is over there”
• “Bathrooms are located there”
• “The 5K race starts at 8am and the 1 mile walk starts at 8:30”
• “The mascot race and awards will be after the fun walk, starting around 9:30”
• Thank folks for supporting us and be prepared to share the mission of the CCC (The Children’s Cancer Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving families of children who have cancer or chronic blood disorders with emotional, financial, and educational support necessary to cope with their life-threatening illness.)

• Fill water cups to be ready for runners
• Offer water to runners
• Continue filling up cups as you prepare for the HERD!
• Keep runners pumped up with encouraging words:
“Woo hoo, you’re half way there!”
“Stay hydrated, you’re doing GREAT!!”
• Pick up cups and put in bins (Recycle where available)
• Keep station clutter free
• Be ready to return to Park, with your station tidied by 8:45am

Mingle and welcome guests/runners offering sale of “Chick-fil-A for-a-Year” coupon and 50/50 Chance Drawing tickets

Credit card purchase option:
• Train on iPhone to charge credit card, using “square”
• Receive roll of tickets

To process charge for tickets:
• Pull up Square application
• Enter amount to be charged (tickets are $20 each for 50/50 and $5 for Chick-fil-A)
• Type “FS Chance/50-50 or Chick-fil-A” in memo area
• Swipe credit card with “square”
• Email receipt
• Give person one half of ticket & put other half ticket in barrel for drawing
• Inform each customer that chance drawing winners will be announced at Awards Ceremony

Cash purchase option:
• Receive apron with raffle tickets and change for cash sales

To sell chance drawing tickets for cash:
• Determine number of chance drawing tickets to be purchased (tickets are $20 each for 50/50 and $5 for Chick-fil-A)
• Take cash/give change
• Give person one half of ticket & put other half ticket in barrel for drawing
• Inform each customer that chance drawing winners will be announced at Awards Ceremony
• When DJ announces Chance Drawing is closed, return aprons, squares and cash to team lead.

Pre-Race
• Obtain course map & know the route!
• Report to your assigned station no later than 7:30 am!!

During the Race
• Direct runners along the course to ensure they are going in the right direction
• Cheer them on!

Post-Race
• When last participant has passed (followed by sweep vehicle), return to post race activities area.
