Race Buddy High Priority

You must be 16-99 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

You will be paired up with an adaptive athlete and will be required to walk or run alongside your athlete as they swim, run, and bike. Buddies must be energetic and enthusiastic as your athlete goes through the triathlon course. You may be required to help with changing the athlete, help them bike, push their wheelchair or hold their hand during the run portion of the race, or transfer them between events. Please note that you will NOT be swimming along with your athlete but will be on the side of the pool. Sneakers, a smile, and a great attitude are a must! Volunteers must be available from between 7:30 am (set up) through 1pm (clean up). Please indicate (on the next page) if you would like to be paired with a specific athlete and we will do our best to make this happen.

*please know that the race director may need to change what type of volunteer activity you are participating in based on specific needs on race day but we will do our best to accommodate everyone's first choice

Race Buddy (Long Distance)

You must be 16-99 years old to volunteer for this task.

At least 5 more volunteers needed.

Details

This volunteer category is the same as the "Race Buddy" one (see details below) except that you will be paired with an athlete that is participating in one of the longer distance races (1/2-1 mile run and 1-2 mile bike). To be paired with a long distance racer you will need to be able to run at least 1-3 miles (around or under a 9 min/mile pace) alongside your buddy as they walk/run and bike.

Bike Runner/Transporter

You must be 16-99 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

This volunteer opportunity involves helping to transport bikes from one triathlon station to another one. This is a very important job because there are a limited number of adapted bikes available and many athletes will be using 1 bike at different times throughout the day. The bike runner will be instructed on where to take bikes throughout the race. Sneakers, the ability to run/walk quickly over short distances, and a fabulous attitude are a must for this position. Volunteers must be available from between 7:30 am (set up) through 1pm (clean up). Please indicate if you would like to be paired with a specific athlete and we will do our best to make this happen.

Photographer Medium Priority

Seeking designated photographers to take action photos during swim, bike, run, and of course at the finish line! Must be able to upload and share photos via online sharing platform (google drive, one drive, etc)

Pool/Lifeguard Volunteer

YOU MUST HAVE PERMISSION FROM CLAUDIA TO SIGN UP FOR THIS CATEGORY. Volunteers will be responsible for assisting the athletes in the swimming event of the triathlon
