Stay on the course! Stationed throughout the race route, our course marshals play a crucial role in ensuring that the route is kept clear and that runners stay on the designated route for the safety of the participants. Volunteers will need to be knowledgeable of the race routes and be able to direct the runners in the right direction. Volunteers will be divided up and sent out to different parts of the race course to help as a guide and cheer for the runners. Make sure you are wearing your volunteer shirts and a smile.

Event Clean Up - Outside High Priority

Details

No party or event can be complete without help cleaning up. Volunteers will ensure that we leave BGA just as beautiful as we found it by assisting in post-race cleanup. This may include removing banners, barriers, folding/stacking chairs and tables, loading equipment, picking up trash, boxing materials, and general cleaning.

Help us keep our runners hydrated! Assist with hydration stations and pass out water and Powerade to runners on the course. This is a great job for teams and groups. You will be responsible for filling cups, keeping trash cleaned up at your area, passing out water and Gatorade and keeping a watchful eye for any problems on course.

Kids Race Corrals High Priority

Want to have the most important volunteer position? Sign up for the kids race! Without kids race volunteers, it would be MASS CHAOS. Our #1 priority is the safety of our runners, most importantly, our kids race participants. We need your help making sure the kids are in the right corral, leading them to and from the start & finish lines, and making sure they are with their guardian.

Gear Check High Priority

Details

Heroes Run athletes will each receive an official gear check bag to store any personal belongings they do not want to carry during the race. Bags will be labeled with the runners’ bib number, organized in corresponding boxes and verified at pickup. Bags must be picked up by runners within an hour of the race finishing. All uncollected items will be donated to charity. This area must be staffed at all times to secure the safety of the items. In addition to helping with Gear Check, volunteers will also be helping with a Lost and Found table within the Gear Check station.

Note: The only bag that may be checked is the Heroes Run official gear check bag due to safety purposes.
