Aid Station 1 High Priority

AS1 is at mile 3.7 of the course, where the Orange trail intersects Tawes Dr, and accessible from Tawes Dr. This paved road is roughly 0.75 miles from the Start/Finish. AS1 needs to be set up by 9 a.m., and will receive runners between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Supplies will be provided, and can be collected at the activity hall between 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. Volunteers are are encouraged to create a family-friendly theme w/ props, for the aid station. Reasonable expenses for props, special food dishes, etc., will be reimbursed.

Aid Station 2 High Priority

AS2 is at mile 7.0 of the course, at a covered pavilion w/ fire pit, and accessible from Blackbridge Rd or Tawes Dr. This gravel road is roughly 1.75 miles from the Start/Finish. AS2 needs to be set up by 9:30 a.m., and will receive runners between 10:00 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. Supplies will be provided, and can be collected at the activity hall between 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. Volunteers are are encouraged to create a family-friendly theme w/ props, for the aid station. Reasonable expenses for props, special food dishes, etc., will be reimbursed.

Aid Station 3 High Priority

AS3 is at mile 10.6 of the course, and accessible from Ben Rd. This rough gravel road is roughly 2.5 miles from the Start/Finish. AS3 needs to be set up by 10:00 a.m., and will receive runners between 10:30 a.m. and 3:50 p.m. Supplies will be provided, and can be collected at the activity hall between 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. Volunteers are are encouraged to create a family-friendly theme w/ props, for the aid station. Reasonable expenses for props, special food dishes, etc., will be reimbursed.

Aid Station 4 & Awards Medium Priority

Details

AS4 is at mile 15.6 of the course, which is the start/finish area beside the activity hall. AS4 will be primarily used by 50K runners going out on their 2nd loop, and needs to be set up by 10:50 a.m. You should expect to receive runners between 11 a.m. & 1 p.m. Supplies will be provided, and can be collected at the activity hall at 9 a.m. Volunteers will also be tasked with handing out awards to runners finishing either distance.

Details

From 8 a.m. -12 noon, you'll work in the heated activity hall setting up the food stations, emptying trash bins, replenishing food/beverages, sweeping up mud, and generally keeping things tidy. Not a glamorous job, but an important one. Plus you'll be in a heated hall, unlike those suckers at the aid stations. You should have some down time to watch finishers come in.

We'll need to pack up supplies, and sweep & mop the floor. Any leftover perishable items are up for grabs to the volunteers that show up Sunday morning. In past years, that's included, beer, soda, uncrustables, chips, fries, etc. Usually lots of volunteers show, so we're usually done before noon.

Course Marking-Friday Medium Priority

Details

Utilizing ribbons, flags, & signs provided by the Trail Dawgs, you'll be assigned a 3-4 mile section of the course to mark. This can be accomplished at any time on Friday, and will take 2-4 hrs. You should be extremely familiar w/ the Fair Hill trails AND the PHUNT course map. Strong preference will be given to previous year's marking volunteers. Course director is Pete McLaughlin and all instructions will come from him.

Course deflagging-Sunday Medium Priority

Details

You'll be assigned a 3-4 mile section of the course to remove all ribbons, flags, and signs. This can be accomplished at any time on Sunday, and will take 1-2 hours. You should be very familiar w/ the Fair Hill trails, AND the PHUNT course. Pete McLaughlin is the course director, and all instructions will be provided by him.

Lentil Soup Medium Priority

Minimum met, 5 volunteer spots remaining.

Details

Utilizing a secret family recipe from Grand Dawgie Phil, you'll need to prepare a large batch of lentil soup, and transport it to the race by 9 a.m.(Sat. Jan. 18th). To align w/ your free time, freezing the soup is acceptable. Although the ideal situation would be to prepare the soup 0-4 days prior to the event. You'll be reimbursed for ALL costs.
