Course/Race Set Up

Details

Calling all early birds! Help us get the race set up and started. This will require your ability to carry loads of 30 pounds or so, as you will be unloading shirts, boxes of packets, as well as setting up tables, pop up tents and other tasks as needed including setting up the start area. You will be rewarded with coffee (and great appreciation).

Registration and Packet Pick Up

At least 6 more volunteers needed.

Details

For all our organization and orderly folk. This is the first stop for runners as they prepare to run the race by picking up their race packet and preparing for the 5k run or 1 mile fun run. Duties include organizing/handing out shirts, preparing packets, assisting runners with finding their bib number, handing out race chips, and answering questions or providing race information. One or two people will also be responsible for handling same day registration transactions, and making sure their info reaches our timing team.

Water Stop and Runner Support

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

Details

Water stop volunteers help move and set up tables with half-filled cups of water. Once the runners have come through the water stop, volunteers are responsible for raking up the dispensed cups, gathering the trash and breaking down the tables.

Course Marshals and Runner Support

At least 6 more volunteers needed.

Are you great at making sure people a.) don’t get lost and b.) stay in good spirits??? (often these two go hand in hand…) You will be assigned an intersection along the race course. As runners approach you during the race you direct them so they stay on course, and cheer and encourage runners as they pass by.

Chip Collection and Handing out Medals

At least 5 more volunteers needed.

Details

An integral part of race management -- collect timing chips from runners as they finish and verify that chips have been returned as they leave finish area (i.e. no runaway timing chips). You’ll also be responsible for channeling your inner-Olympic official and medal participants as they finish.

Re-fuelers

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

Details

Help runners re-fuel after the race by handing out water and refreshments, and answer any questions.

Course and Race Breakdown

Details

After the last runner has arrived and the prizes have been handed out, you can assist with tear down and packing up. This will require an ability to carry loads of 30 pounds or more and other physical feats.
