Course Monitor

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Direct participants on the course at the 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, April 18, 2020 from 10:00 - 10:45 am. Report for volunteer training at 9:00 am

DUTIES: Direct runners and walkers keeping them on course using voice and flag. May be required to flag traffic at crosswalks when runners or walkers are present.

SKILLS: Loud clear voice, outgoing personality. ABLE TO WALK AND STAND OUTDOORS FOR A 2 HOUR SHIFT IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS. No lifting.

Report to volunteer by 9:00 am and be complete by 11:15 am. The stop is located on the 5K Route and directions will be provided. You'll receive instructions and map, then head to your assigned location for verification by a race director.

Volunteers must stay at their post for the entire race, but shorter shifts may be available. (Indicate in comments if you have time constraints)

Youth under the age of 15 should volunteer with a parent/guardian for this role.

5K Water Station

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Pass out water to participants at the 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, April 18, 2020 from 10:00 - 10:45 am. Report for volunteer training at 9:00 am

DUTIES: Fill water cups, hand water to runners, pick up trash.

SKILLS: ABLE TO WALK AND STAND OUTDOORS FOR A 2 HOUR SHIFT IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS. Bend and pick up trash. Lift a small folding table, and move gallon jugs of water.

Report to volunteer by 9:00 am and be complete by 11:00 am. The stop is located on the 5K Route and directions will be provided. You'll receive instructions and map, then head to your assigned location for verification by a race director.

Volunteers are expected to stand outdoors at their post for the entire race

Course Setup

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Help mark the course with signs and traffic cones on Saturday, April 18, 2020 from 8:00 - 9:30 am. Report at 7:45 am.

DUTIES: Work with a race director to prep the 5K course. Drive a vehicle along the route as the race director uses signs and cones to mark the course.

SKILLS: Follow directions from the race director setting up the course. MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE AND BE ABLE TO WALK AND STAND OUTDOORS FOR A 1 HOUR SHIFT IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS. Some lifting of traffic cones and folding tables.

Report to volunteer by 7:45 am and be complete by 9:30 am. Route and directions will be provided. You'll receive instructions and map, then head out with a race director.

THIS VOLUNTEER COULD ALSO REGISTER TO RUN OR WALK THE EVENT, OR VOLUNTEER IN ANOTHER ROLE DURING THE EVENT. (Indicate in comments if you plan to run or walk the 5K)

Course Sweeper

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

DUTIES: Follow the last walker on the course on foot with a wagon, alone or with a partner. Pick up signage and course markings.

SKILLS: Some lifting. Able to walk a 3.1-mile course in all weather conditions while pulling a 4 wheeled cart.

Report to volunteer at 9:00 am and be complete by 11:15 am. Volunteer(s) will be provided a map and will ride with the race director to confirm locations of volunteers. At 10:00 am, the volunteer will follow behind the last walker through the entire course to retrieve signs and traffic cones, and place them in the cart.

Start/Finish Line Volunteers

Start Line Volunteers

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Provide assistance to participants arriving at 5K on Saturday, April 18, 2020 from 8:30 - 10:00 am. Report for volunteer training at 8:30 am

DUTIES: Direct cars to parking areas, and participants to the registration area. Direct participants to start line. Ensure participants have race bib secured on the front of their body.

SKILLS: Loud clear voice, outgoing personality. No lifting. Able to walk and stand for about a 1.5-hour shift.

VOLUNTEERS IN THIS ROLE COULD ALSO REGISTER TO RUN OR WALK THE EVENT, OR VOLUNTEER AS A FINISH LINE VOLUNTEER OR COURSE MONITOR. (Indicate in comments if you plan to run or walk the 5K)

Finish Line Volunteers

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 3 more volunteers needed.

Details

Provide assistance at the finish line during the 5K on Saturday, April 18, 2020 from 9:45 - 11:30 am. Report for duty at 9:45 am

DUTIES: Direct participants to start line. Ensure participants have race bib secured on the front of their body. Setup the refreshment table. Take photos at the finish line and during awards. Tear down setup and load supplies.

SKILLS: Loud clear voice, outgoing personality. Some lifting. Able to walk and stand for about a 1.5-hour shift.

VOLUNTEERS IN THIS ROLE COULD ALSO VOLUNTEER AS A STARTING LINE VOLUNTEER OR ASSIST IN COURSE MARKING.

DUTIES: Hand out pre-registered packets from 8:30 - 9:45 am Saturday, April 18, 2020

SKILLS: Deal with a high volume of people. Listen well, be able to read fine print to verify names. Some lifting of boxes may be required.
