Race Day Packet Pick-up

Details

Race Day packet pick-up will be held in front of the Sprint Center this year. Plan to start distributing packets at 7:00 am.

You will be responsible for distributing packets (timing chips/bibs), t-shirts, and bags to runners who registered prior to race day, but who have not yet picked up their packet.

Every t-shirt has been accounted for and assigned to a participant. If someone is unhappy with the size they received, they may select another shirt from our "Extras" box located at Race Day Registration.

If you would like to continue volunteering after the race has begun, you may move to the finish line and help collect timing chips from the runners as they cross the finish line and/or distribute bottled water.

Water Station

Details

Please check-in at 7:00 am at the Bank of the West tent in front of the Sprint Center. Plan to be at the water station by 7:30.

Fill cups 1/2 full of water and set on the table so you have a full supply of water to distribute. Once runners begin to approach the water station, begin handing the pre-filled cups to runners as they pass by. Identify a few volunteers to keep filling cups as they are depleted. Please note that the water station will act as 2 stations, serving runners as they head south and then again as they head north for the finish line.

Spread volunteers out in a line and be sure to stay out of the way. Let the runners come to you; we don't want to crowd the course.

Hold cups flat on your palm or slightly cupped in your hand so runners have a place to grab the cup. ***FOR SANITARY PURPOSES, PLEASE BE CAREFUL NOT TO DIP YOUR HANDS IN THE WATER CONTAINERS. WHEN HANDING CUPS TO RUNNERS PLEASE HOLD CUPS AT THE BOTTOM AND DO NOT PLACE FINGERS IN THE CUPS***

Encourage the runners. "Go Kansas" "Go Missouri" "Catch him/her Kansas" "Catch him/her Missouri" "Great Job" "You’re almost there" "You’re looking good!" "Anyone want a cold shower??" Make it FUN!!

Around 9 (or sooner, if you see the trailing police vehicle) pick up the trash/water cups that have been thrown to the ground by the runners (it might be a good idea to assign a few volunteers to do this as you seem them being tossed down). We ask that you help ensure that ALL trash is picked-up and disposed of, and that the race site is as clean as when we arrived.

Course Monitor

Details

Monitors will work with KCPD to direct traffic at assigned intersections and for ensuring that all trash is pick-up and disposed of and that the race site is as clean when we leave as it was when we arrived.

Memorial & Main Street Intersection (allow thru traffic in between runners)
17th & Grand Boulevard Intersection (allow thru traffic in between runners)
16th & Grand Boulevard (allow thru traffic in between runners)
