This volunteer shift will include heavy lifting and other physical activity outdoors. Volunteers will assist in setting up tables, tents, banners and other race materials to be used the following morning.

Race Day Packet Pick Up

Details

Only 250 runners will pick up their race packets on race morning. Our race has grown too big to have race morning packet pick up - therefore only the first 250 (who paid $15 to do so) will be allowed to pick up race packets.

**Please indicate when you sign up if you'd be willing to do another job AFTER this job is over - such as FINISH LINE (handing out medals, refreshments, beer garden or even a nearby Course Monitor position)**

Start Line Set-Up

Details

Help the race crew prepare the start line to accommodate thousands of excited and energized participants. Well need you early, but you get to leave early too. Tasks include unloading race materials from the truck, placing banners, building the start line, and more. These volunteers will be asked to assist with heavy lifting and physical work; consider this your workout for the day! Feel free to stay beyond the start of the event, and transition to a finish line volunteer! Arrive at 5:30 AM at POD storage unit at the race site Please make sure you sign in and get credit for your organization with a Volunteer Captain.

Parking Monitors

Details

Grab your orange flags and be on patrol! Parking Lot Monitors will direct cars into the assist participants parking in the designated event parking lots. Police will be positioned at all major intersections to assist. You will receive maps and specific instructions at the Volunteer Check In the day before the event.
Arrive: 5:30 am and direct cars toward the parking lot.

COURSE CAPTAINS

Details

COURSE CAPTAINS are ESSENTIAL to our team on Race Day. The Course is broken down into 7 zones and you will be responsible for communication with all Course Monitors in your Zone in the days prior to the race to make sure they know their responsibilities. You will also be responsible for ensuring they are all checked in to the correct location on race day. If you have a cancellation - you will be the first person to help try to find a replacement from an extra person on your team.

Bag Check

Details

The Bag Check volunteers will collect runners bag's and store them in an organized fashion using the runners bib numbers to organize them until the runners return to collect their belongings. This job is fun and rewarding!
Arrive at 6:15 AM to help set up the Bag Check Area Location. Please report to your Volunteer Captain to be sure your organization gets recognized for your volunteering hours if applicable.

Refreshments

Details

Refreshment volunteers will help provide the runners with well-deserved snacks and drinks when they cross the finish line. Pre-race activities include setting up tables and water coolers, and preparing post-race foods (bagels, fruit, jelly beans, etc.). Once the finishers start pouring in, you'll be handing out the food and drinks, keeping the area organized and presentable, and handing out a few high fives!

Beer Garden

Under the direction Beer Garden Captain monitor the EXITS to the Beer Garden and make sure no one exits with a beer.  You will meet the Beer Garden Captain for a brief meeting on Race Morning at 7:00 AM.

Course Monitor - Zone A; Activate Good Only

Details

The 1 Mile Run will start at 7:45 (15 minutes after the half marathon and 5 mile run start). We will need you to arrive early (many roads will be closed!) so you can be set up and ready as soon as the 1 mile run starts! Your Zone Captain will be in touch with you closer to race weekend!
**Please indicate in the comments area if you are interested in staying to help out with other jobs such as Finish Line, Refreshments, Beer Garden, Post Race Clean Up, Bag Check Hand Out etc..after you finish working Zone A***

START LINE AMBASSADOR: You will begin the morning helping to direct runners toward our start line and porta jons and be sure they are lining up at the proper time. Once runners have taken off - you can then head up to the FINISH LINE Area and.......hand out medals to each finisher!!!

FINISH LINE: Each participant receives a medal to acknowledge the accomplishment of crossing the finish line. Medal volunteers will unload the medals from the POD and set them up at the Finish Line (unpackage them from the plastic wrap ASAP!) - and hand them out to finishers as they cross the finish line. This is one of the most fun and rewarding volunteer positions.

Please help clean up when you are done! Break down boxes and throw out trash!
Report to the Finish Line Captain when you arrive.

Want to help out but hate getting up early? Here is the job for you. This group of hard-working volunteers will arrive as the race is winding down and will help the race crew clean up and break down. We need your strength and energy to break down equipment, load up the PODS and leave the American Tobacco Campus looking as good as if not better than - it did when we arrived.
Report to the Refreshment Booth upon arrival and check in with Refreshment Captain.
