Community Packet Pick-Up Medium Priority

Details

Support participants during packet pick-up. This position is suitable for someone who prefers to sit and enjoys interacting with people.

Duties:
- Process new registrations
- Distribute race kits for both the 5K and Fun Run
-Provide basic event information and answer questions

Parking & Traffic Management

Parking High Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 8 more volunteers needed.

Details

Assist with parking operations on race day. Must be 18 years or older.

Duties:
- Directing cars in the parking lot(s).

Coaches Lot High Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 3 more volunteers needed.

Details

Manage the Coaches Parking Lot. Must be 18 years or older.

Duties:

- Direct coaches to assigned parking spaces
- Monitor lot capacity
- Transition to event breakdown support once the lot closes

Course Safety & Restricted Roles

Sales Table High Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Manage GO FAR merchandise sales. Must be 21 years or older. Suitable for someone who prefers to sit.

Duties:

- Organize and display merchandise professionally
- Answer customer questions
- Process payments

Finisher Medals High Priority

At least 8 more volunteers needed.

Details

Distribute medals at the finish line.

Duties:

- Set up medal tables for 5K and Fun Run
- Distribute medals to finishers
- Keep runners moving through the chute to prevent congestion
- Congratulate participants
- Assist with cleanup

Traffic Control High Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 10 more volunteers needed.

Details

Support law enforcement with traffic and pedestrian safety.

Duties:
- Assist HPPD officers
- Direct vehicles to appropriate parking lots
- Keep vehicles off the race route after 7:45 AM
- Direct runners safely on course
- Report issues to the nearest officer

Bicyclist High Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Adult volunteers only. Must be approved by GO FAR.

Duties:

- Ride alongside runners to monitor course safety
- Encourage participants
- Respond promptly to injuries by moving runners safely off course
- Report concerns to the nearest officer

Registration High Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 3 more volunteers needed.

Details

Adult volunteers only. Must be approved by GO FAR.

Support race-day registration from 6:30–9:00 AM. Suitable for someone who prefers to sit and enjoys interacting with people.

Duties:
- Process new registrations
- Receive payments
- Distribute race kits for 5K and Fun Run
- Answer participant questions
- Assist runners in locating teams in the Coaches Lot
- Maintain a calm and positive environment

Race Angel High Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 5 more volunteers needed.

Details

Provide on-course support by running alongside participants.

Duties:
- Run the course with participants
- Monitor runner well-being and safety
- Offer encouragement and support throughout the race

Race Specific

Wave Start Medium Priority

At least 12 more volunteers needed.

Details

Support the safe and organized start of each race wave.

Duties:

- Hold rope lines to separate runners by wave
- Ensure runners do not start before their designated time
- Display wave designations
- Assist runners in locating their starting corral
- Provide crowd control at the start line
- After wave duties are complete, assist at the finish line with food distribution and spectator crowd control

Vendor and Volunteer Check-In High Priority

Details

Coordinate vendor and volunteer arrival.

Duties:

- Greet vendors and direct booth setup
- Answer questions and provide support
- Check in volunteers on race day
- Ensure volunteers know their task lead and contact information
- Transition to parking support once check-in is complete

Food Runner Medium Priority

At least 3 more volunteers needed.

Details

Assist with finish line food distribution and area organization.

Duties:

- Set up food tables
- Organize food and remove boxes and debris
- Maintain a clean and safe finish line area
- Manage food distribution crowd flow
- Assist with rope holding during designated wave starts
- Distribute fruit and snacks to runners as they finish
- Keep runners moving through the chute efficiently

Water Station – Macedonia Center High Priority

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

Details

Support the on-course hydration station. This position is great for teens or kids!

Duties:

- Set up tables and water coolers
- Fill cups halfway with water
- Distribute water to runners
- Collect and dispose of cups and trash during and after the event
- Encourage and support runners

Race Set-Up and Breakdown High Priority

Details

Assist with race site preparation and post-event breakdown.

Duties:

-Set up and dismantle finish line area
- Move race chute fencing between races
- Hang sponsor banners using zip ties
- Load GO FAR trailer(s)
- Assist with general pack up and cleanup

Trash Removal Medium Priority

Details

Maintain event cleanliness throughout race day.

Duties:

- Use gloves and trash pickers to remove litter from event areas
- Spread kitty litter at the finish line as needed

Cheerleader High Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Vibe creators. This position is suitable for any who like to make noise with bells, horns, screams and shouts. Very suitable for groups of cheerleaders/dancers/organizations
