Direct vehicles into designated lots
Parking typically wraps up around 7:45–8:00 AM
Once the last cars are parked, report to Volunteer Coordinator (Ashley Cheeks) for reassignment (often finish line or food support)
Pairs well with: Food Runner, Finish Line Support, Trash Removal

Coaches Lot High Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 3 more volunteers needed.

Details

Arrive by 6:00 AM
Direct coaches + monitor lot capacity
When lot closes, transition to event breakdown or general support
Report to Ashley Cheeks for next assignment
Pairs well with: Breakdown (10 AM), Trash Removal

Traffic Control High Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

Must be in place by 7:45 AM (no exceptions)
Remains at post until last runner clears course
May assist with early setup (6:30–7:30 AM) if desired
Work alongside HPPD officers

Adult volunteers only. Must be approved by GO FAR.

Support race-day registration from 6:30–9:00 AM. Suitable for someone who prefers to sit and enjoys interacting with people.

Duties:
- Process new registrations
- Receive payments
- Distribute race kits for 5K and Fun Run
- Answer participant questions
- Assist runners in locating teams in the Coaches Lot
- Maintain a calm and positive environment

Sales Table High Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Manage GO FAR merchandise sales. Must be 21 years or older. Suitable for someone who prefers to sit.

Arrive by 6:30 AM
Remains active for the entire event (not paired)
Manage merchandise sales + assist customers
Race week email will include setup details + payment process + contacts

Race Angel High Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Provide on-course support by running alongside participants.

Must be ready by 8:15 AM (race start)
Support runners on course as needed
Can pair with pre-race roles (Setup, Parking, Check-In) or post-race roles (Food, Breakdown)

Cheerleader High Priority

Vibe creators. This position is suitable for any who like to make noise with bells, horns, screams and shouts. Very suitable for groups of cheerleaders/dancers/organizations.

Race Set-Up and Breakdown High Priority

Assist with race site preparation and post-event breakdown.

5:30 AM / 6:30 AM / 10:00 AM shifts available
Early shifts may transition into race-day roles (Parking, Check-In, Water Station)
Breakdown shift focuses on cleanup + loading trailers

Race week email will include shift-specific instructions + contacts

Wave Start Medium Priority

At least 10 more volunteers needed.

Details

Support the safe and organized start of each race wave by holding a rope until it's their turn to begin.

Arrive by 7:15 AM
Manage start corrals + ensure smooth wave launches
After final wave, transition to finish line (food + crowd control)

Vendor and Volunteer Check-In High Priority

Set up tent + check-in area before volunteers arrive

Assist with finish line food distribution and area organization.

Set up + manage finish line food area
May assist with wave starts (rope holding) before race begins

Water Station – Macedonia Center High Priority

Details

Support the on-course hydration station. This position is great for teens or kids!

Arrive by 7:15 AM
Set up + distribute water to runners on course
Assist with cleanup after last runners pass
May transition to Trash Removal or Finish Line support
