2 volunteers are needed on the 5K course to direct runners over the bridge.

Location

Both volunteers will be located on each side of the second bridge. One will be located on the Whipple street side, the other will be over the bridge by the flagpole.

Details

This volunteer is stationed at the U-turn at Mile 1.3 and then once the last runner has passed, they move up to the pavement and direct runners back over the bridge around the 3.8 mile mark.

Location

First Half: Stationed at the 1.3 Mile Marker for the 5 Mile Race at the Sharp Turn onto the path that will cross over the pavement by Lincoln Park
Second Half: At the 3.8 Mile Marker for the 5 Mile Race where runners must turn to go back over the bridge

5 Mile Turn / Turtle Hill High Priority

This volunteer will be stationed on the 5 mile course. The first half will be to direct runners from the paved path to the first turn after the NHSS bridge at Mile 1.2. The second half they will be positioned at the top of the hill on Spine Road directing runners to the turn that will bring them back over to the high school bridge.

Location

1st half: The 1.2 Mile Marker on the 5 Mile course (paved road leading to Lincoln Park at the turnoff)
2nd half: The 3.7 Mile Marker on the 5 Mile Course (Top of hill on Spine Road leading back to High School Bridge)

Stationed at a spot where many 5 milers get lost, or turned around, this volunteer will encourage runner to keep going, but will also direct them so they don't get lost. Once the last 5 miler has gone by, they will let the water stop know to pack up.

These volunteers wil 1) Make sure the runner has closed all their pins 2) stamp or sticker their bib to show how many races they've done 3) make sure the runner's name and info is on bib before return 4) write their fastest time in PR space.

This volunteer will use a template to fill out weekly communications with the runners. They will 1) tell the top finishers 2) give a shout out to several runners who did well or set a PR 3) include the link where runners can check their times 4) thank our sponsors 5) point racers to where they can find/upload their pics of the race 6) let them know the following week's theme so that they can participate if they wish 7) give updates on the virtual runners. 8) Post our contest of the week
