Kayak Team

Details

6 individuals who are proficient with Kayaks are needed to help guide the athletes around the course. You are not allowed to pull them around the course, but they can hang onto your kayak till they catch their breathe and/or composure. Lifeguards will be in the water for rescue assists...and your role will be to notify guards if you see an individual what needs water rescue; however, the role is strictly as swim support.

Location

The Kayak Team will be asked to check in at the volunteer registration table under the main pavilion, next to the bike transition. Then, kayak volunteers will meet lake side, next to the swim corral, where all the kayaks, and lifeguard vessels will be parked.

Swim Counter

You must be 21-80 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

Three Swim Counters will work with the Head Lifeguard, Race Director and Auyer Racetiming, in the admittance of athletes into the water. Athletes must be counted into the swim course from the swim corral.

Location

The Swim Counting Team will be asked to check in at the volunteer registration table under the main pavilion, next to the bike transition. Then, swim counter volunteers will meet lake side, inside the beach next to the swim dock on the left side of the lake.

Bike Course Volunteer

You must be 18-80 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

We ask that all 22 bike course volunteers be avid cyclists and have competed in triathlon races. It is of the essence that cycling volunteers be aware that they need to manage the race course they way they would want it managed if they were racing. Our athletes safety is our number 1 concern and it is of utmost importance that these volunteers be ready to assist and protect the racers on the course.

Location

The Bike Course Team will be asked to check in at the volunteer registration table under the main pavilion, next to the bike transition. Then, bike course volunteers will be directed to their specific locations on the course. We ask that all volunteers be prepared to grab some food and water from the park before departing for their duties.

Transition Assist Team

You must be 18-85 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

The 8 transition team members will be ask to manage certain duties while volunteering. Guiding all participants to legally rack their bikes (e.g. by the lip of the seat, not the handlebars), help answer questions, guide athletes to open spots in racks, and ensure a smooth flow during the race will be key. Roles of the transition volunteer may change throughout the course of the race. From check in, to mount/dismount, to bike check out.

The Transition Team will be asked to check in at the volunteer registration table under the main pavilion, next to the bike transition. Then, transition volunteers will be directed to their specific role within transition.

Run Course / Aid Station Team

Details

The Run Course / Aid Station Team will be 3 groups of 10 participant asked to assist runners grab water while maintaining their motion (walk and/or run) during the race. Volunteers will be asked to hand out water in plastic cups, encourage the racers, be a little crazy and/or inspiring and help clean up by putting used cups into garbage. Our goal on the course is to support and inspire our athletes and to keep the neighborhood clean for our residents.

Details

A team of 15 Registration Volunteers will be asked to help athletes over the course of the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Gillie Girl. These windows will be 3 hour sessions on Friday and Saturday (12pm-3pm or 3pm-6pm) and race morning 5:00am-8:00am. Volunteers will be helping locate race packets, confirming USAT memberships and Personal ID, athlete's race shirts, and helping athletes with any other necessary steps to complete their registration and packet pickup.

Location

The Registration Team will be asked to check in at the designated packet pickup site. Registration volunteers will be briefed and directed to their specific roles.

Volunteer Registration

Details

Those aiding with Volunteer Registration will be asked to help each volunteer find where their coordinator and group will be meeting and direct them there, after proper waivers, food wristbands and tshirts have been distributed.

Location

The Volunteer Registration Team will be asked to check in at the volunteer registration table under the main pavilion, next to the bike transition. They will be briefed on their role and directed to their specific role position and duty.

Parking Team

Details

The Parking Team will be a group of 20 individuals spread out in three general areas to direct traffic into the park, guide vehicles to specific locations, and help ensure athlete safety by managing cars trying to enter and/or leave these areas once the race is underway.

The Parking Team will be asked to check in at the volunteer registration table under the main pavilion, next to the bike transition. Then, parking volunteers will be directed to their specific coordinator, duties reviewed and then released to their locations.

Finish Line Team

Details

The Finish Line Team is a group of 6 individuals who will hand athletes water and their finishers medal and remove their timing chip from their legs. This team will be the first group of faces athletes see after a hard day of work so high energy and positive feedback is essential.

The Finishing Team will be asked to check in at the volunteer registration table under the main pavilion, next to the bike transition. Then, finishing volunteers will be directed to their specific coordinator, duties reviewed and then released to the finish line.

Food and Beverage

July 27, 2025

Details

A team of 10 food and beverage volunteers will be asked to manage all the products that athletes and patrons will be eating and drinking on race day. From managing food and drink in transition, serving Limp Lizard lunches, moving food and drink and ice around the park, etc... This team can find relief from the heat when moving product to and from a refrigerated truck.

The Food and Beverage Team will be asked to check in at the volunteer registration table under the main pavilion, next to the bike transition. Then, the F&B Team will be directed to their specific coordinator, duties reviewed and then released to begin their task.

Body Marking

Details

Body Markers will be working directly with registration and Auyer Racetiming to mark athletes race numbers on their designated body parts (shoulders, thighs and calves). These individuals are often the 2nd point of contact at the race, so knowledge of the event is suggested to help guide athletes and answer their questions.

Event Setup

Details

Race Coordinators and volunteers will design the course. Trailers filled with all the equipment will be on site and volunteers will help carry out the design of the race. From building a race transition, to setting up swim buoys, tents and tables, cones, barricades and water aid station. This is a critical piece of the race...and everyones support is welcome. After setup, volunteers are fed the night before the race.

Event Tear-Down

Details

This is probably the most important role. At the end of the day, all of the racers and race directors are exhausted. A team of hands to help get the race gear put into one of three trailers would help the team clear out of the park and distribute the product back to the said owners. A few hours of help makes a world of a difference for the race team. It does require some brawn, but is pretty straight forward.

Kidz Zone

Details

Every year, this team of 10 individuals has a blast. Bounce houses, to slides, to spin art and other games. The team of 10 on the Kidz Zone Team guide the kids as they play while their mom's race. These little valuable ones are near and dear to their parents and would love to have caring people supervise them while they are having fun...are you one of these people?

Infield Race Day Organizers

Details

A huge part of the race is helping get product from refrigerated trucks out into the course for athletes and to move food and beverage from the positions they are needed in the morning (before the race) to positions where they are needed during the race. This is a high activity position and is fun and fast. You will get an amazing workout. Transporting Ice, Water, Snacks (yogurt, milk, cookies, fruit, juice, donuts, etc...). You will be working with the race director and assistant race director helping make sure the race seems flawless to the athletes. When there are shortages in ice, water or supplies, you may be given a vehicle and money to go pick up supplies. This is the heart beat of the race and reliable hard workers are so very much appreciated!!!

Motorcycle Safety

You must be 21-70 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

Motorcycle positions are reserved for a few hand picked individuals who will help manage the safety of the course and report any incidents that require medical assistance. In essence, they will be the liaison between the injured athlete, EMS teams on the course and race management.

Swim Guide

You must be 14 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Swimmers would benefit from 1-3 people acting as a guide to direct athletes as to whether they need to swim a second look or head into transition. Swimmers often become disoriented and or just need a point in the proper direction.

Location

Volunteers would meet by the left side of the protected beach where athletes will gather in the corral. Volunteers should head to the registration at the mail pavilion and then proceed to the edge of the water.
