Your main jobs are:
*AM Crew - Help set up Aid Station
*Provide aid to runners (prep food, refill food as needed, refill drinks, attend to things like blisters/minor cuts and scrapes as you feel comfortable)
*Keep track of who is through using the checklist we will provide--simple, as runners come in just check off their bib number so that we have an approximate idea of where they are on the course.
*At 6 PM, any runners who still are coming through will be pulled from the course and need rides to the finish line. We will also need the bib numbers of those runners.
*PM Crew - Help breakdown Aid Station
***Because of Covid, this year we are moving to a system where you will be serving each runner. Runners can not serve themselves food. When they come into your aid station, they will get a bowl/plate and then ask for the foods they want. You and your volunteers will use tongs to serve up whatever they want. In addition, you will use pitchers to refill bladders/reusable cups/bottles. Runners have been instructed to open their receptacle and hold it out for you to fill to cut down on cross-contamination. So just to reiterate, no one other than aid station staff should be touching any food/drinks other than their own.***
Location
For this aid station, you will have to hike down to get to it. To get to the access trail, from Visitor Center Road at the Dam, you will make a right onto route 408 and in ¾ mile bear right onto River Road. There is an access trail (Trail D) on your right in about a mile and a half (we will get you more specific mileage next weekend). If you get to Ridge Road (it would be on your left), you have gone too far. Please make sure you park on the side of the road that the trail is on (so you will park facing south). It’s about a quarter mile (ish) hike--you’ll take the blue access trail D down to the FLT and set up right where the two intersect.
