Race Day Registration Table Medium Priority

Details

Race day registration table volunteers will work at either the pre-registration bib pickup area or the same-day registration area. There are two shifts: early shift and late shift. Timing depends on your availability.

Details

Part of the "Cobweb Crew"

In order to make sure markings are all in place for the race on race day, we will have at least one runner leave at 7am to run the 5-mile course and check that everything is set the correct way and no hazards have fallen on the course or appeared overnight. Course checkers should be able to return before the start of the 5 mile race at 9:30am and hopefully well before.

When they finish, the course checker(s) should report back to the race director immediately about the condition of the course and any areas that need attention. This is a crucial task that helps make sure all of the runners are as safe as possible.

Finish Line Assistant High Priority

You must be 12-106 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

The race timer will need 2-3 helpers on race day to assist with timing the race. This is a critical time-sensitive task and helpers must be completely focused during the time of the kids races and the 5 miler. Volunteers can cover both the kids and 5 mile races or just elect to do one or the other.

Parking coordinator High Priority

You must be 16-106 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

Parking coordinators help arriving runners with the parking across the street on race morning. They make sure everyone is driving safely, parking tightly together, and able to get to the race start on time.

Location

Muscoot Farm - check in at activity barn. Location of volunteer assignment is across Route 100 from the farm in the meadow parking lot.

Food Table Volunteer High Priority

You must be 14-106 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

There is post-race food (coffee, bagels, hot cocoa, bananas, etc.) that will arrive around 7:30-7:45 and will need to be set up either inside the activity barn or at the outside activity tent (weather dependent). Food Table volunteers will make sure this food is set up and ready for post-race runners. The food won't be available before the races finish. First kids races finish around 8:45 am.

Course Sweep Medium Priority

You must be 18-106 years old to volunteer for this task.

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Course sweep starts 15 minutes after the race and runs/walks behind the slowest runners to make sure everyone is uninjured and off of the course at the end of the race. We need multiple sweeps since sometimes a sweep will stay with an injured runner while help is on its way.

Race Day Photographer Medium Priority

You must be 10-106 years old to volunteer for this task.

At least 3 more volunteers needed.

Details

We'd love to get students and community members out on the course taking photos of the day. We will feature race photos on the website and have them available for runners to view and share.

Check in at Muscoot activity barn - assignment locations are based on photographer mobility and desire for variety.

Kids Race Course Marshals High Priority

You must be 14-106 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

There are two kids races run one after the other. Kids race course marshals keep these young runners on the right course. The two races have slightly different courses and a few markings have to be changed between the 8:30 am and the 8:45 am races. These are critical to keeping the races to the correct distance. This is a key volunteer spot and will require a pre-race day walk-through to make sure the instructions are 100% clear.

Meet at Activity Barn - volunteer location is on the kids course between 8:30 - 9am.

Kids Race Finish Chute Assistant High Priority

You must be 14-106 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

At the finish chute the kids will be coming in fast! We need volunteers to be there to help them out and make sure they each get a medal and their Farm Bucks.

At the finish chute the runners will be coming in one after the other very quickly. We need volunteers to be there to make sure they each their Farm Bucks and that they don't crash into each other or pile up.

Post Race Cleanup Medium Priority

After the race we will need volunteers to clean up the start and finish areas as well as the course itself (markings, anything left behind or dropped by participants).
