Details

You will help distribute bibs and shirts to registered race participants as well as registering new runners at Smithtown Running Company 91 East main st. Smithtown, NY 11787 US. Volunteers will help participants register via a tablet or laptop so previous experience is preferred but not required.

Course Marshalls High Priority

Details

You will be assigned to a position on the course where you will either be directing the runners to turn or to monitor the intersection for cars trying to get on the course. You will check in with the volunteer coordinator race day morning at the New Beginnings School for the specific location, and additional instructions. There is a strictly enforced two hour time limit for the runners. So your assignment is complete after the time limit has expired (11:00) or your advised by the trial walker who will let you know when the last runner has passed, and you are done at your location.

Split Callers High Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

You will be assigned to a mile split along the course. You will be advised of the location you are assigned to prior to the event. You will be required to check in with the volunteer coordinator at the New Beginnings School where you will also obtain your individual clocks. At the start of the race you will start your clocks and drive to your preassigned locations. After you have been notified that the last person has passed you are responsible for returning the clocks to the volunteer coordinator. The rest of the equipment can be left on site.

These limited positions are available to those who ARE racing. Volunteers will look up participant names on a list and determine their "Bib#" and give the participant their bib#. Make sure they check their personal information for any errors. Please report any edits to the Captain of Registration.

Details

This very independent group will help to lead the runners along various points of the course. It is imperative that you assist runners of all different levels. Once you lead one group towards the finish line area you are required to go back out onto the course and help monitor the other runners along the course. Traffic control may be required. There is a two hour time limit.

Trail Walker High Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

You will follow the last runner out on the course who will be finishing the race in the 2 hour time limit. You will also inform all of the volunteers that you are following the last participant and that they free to go once you have passed by them. You will check in with the volunteer coordinator at the New Beginnings School.

This volunteer task is full.

Details

You will be responsible for setting up the water at a table in the finish line area at New Beginnings School. The water has to be available for the runners both before and after the race. This will include pouring water into cups and handing to runners.

After completion of the race please clean up the remaining cups on the table and leave the garbage and leftover water and cups there. Our crew will break down the table.

After registration is complete volunteers will be asked to assist in registration clean up and converting the registration area into the refreshments area.

Water Stop High Priority

Details

You will be assigned to one of 3 water stops along the course. You will be responsible for pouring water or gatorade into cups, handing it out to the participants, replenishing empty cups as needed and cleaning up the area once finished. You will be provided with a table, water, cups, latex gloves, garbage bags and receptacles. You will be advised of the location you are assigned to prior to the event.

A trail walker, who walks behind the past participant, will let you know when you are done.

This task involves driving directly to the 10K timing mat at 07:00 and securing the integrity of the mat until relieved by the 10K split caller. You are then done for the day if you so like. THIS IS A GOOD GIG!!!!
