Details

You will be assigned to a spot on the race course. Once you check in I’ll give you your specific assignment. You’ll need to make sure you are in your spot about 30 minutes prior to the start of the race, which would be about 6:30pm.

Finish line guide Medium Priority

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

***This task requires an experienced runner or someone who has done it in the past****
You will be stationed at the finish line to "catch" one of the top runners in a specific category. Specific instructions will be given before the start of the race by the finish line captains
After you are done with that assignment, you should stay at the finish line to help hand out ice bags to the runners.

Refreshments Medium Priority

You will be helping to set up, distribute, monitor and clean up the refreshment area.

Split Caller Medium Priority

Details

You will be stationed on the course at either a mile or a half mile mark and will be responsible for monitoring the clock and calling out the time to the runners as they pass. The clock will be dropped off at your assigned location after the start of the race and it will be already set to the race time.

Start and Finish Water Medium Priority

You must be 10 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

You will be responsible for providing the runners with their water before the race as well as after they finish. There will be separate areas for each. The start water tables need to be set up with full water cups by 6pm, and then the finish water should be set up by the start of the race at 7pm.

T-Shirt and goody bag distribution Medium Priority

You must be 12 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Each runner will be given a t-shirt and goody bag which you will be handing out to them. Their race numbers have a pull tag on it that they should remove when giving them their shirts and goody bags. If this job is full we can use your help at refreshments!

Other Tasks

Goody Bag Stuffing Medium Priority

You must be 12 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

You will be helping to put together approximately 8,500 goody bags which will be handed out to the runners with their t-shirts. They will start picking the goody bags up at about 4pm. If you'd also like to help with handing out the t-shirts and goody bags, please sign up separately for it.

Details

For experienced Marcum volunteers only as you must be familiar with the event. You will be stationed near the main race tent and will help answer questions regarding all aspects of the race (tent site locations, registration, volunteers, race specific information). You will be given a list with information but it is helpful if you are familiar with the race.

You will help participants locate their company tent site area. It's helpful if you have done this in the past or are familiar with how the tent sites are set up.

Video at the finish line

You will use our video camera to video the first 10 minutes of the finishers of the race so we can use if as back-up if we have any issues with results that have been reported.
