At the Finish Line we need to have all of the timing chips removed from the ankle of the athletes crossing the finish line and placed in a nearby bin.

We need to break down the finish line, the transition area and banners to put in our official trucks to be transported to the warehouse. We also need to clean up the area, dump trash bags and keep the harbor area and Voinovich Park clean.

Transition Area High Priority

Details

The transition area is the most active location on the day of the triathlon. This is where the participant places their bike and run gear for the race and stores it during the race. It is very important we keep the area secure for the participants only are allowed in the transition. Volunteers will assist in directing athletes in and out of the transition area and keeping the area secure. A fun spot to be!

East 9th Pier at the northern tip of 9th Street near the edge of Lake Erie.

Sunday - Swim Course

Swim Course - Lifeguards High Priority

Details

Jane Clarke is our Swim Director for the Swim Courses of the Cleveland Triathlon. She will organize the lifeguards, kayakers, divers, lifters and support teams that will provide safety for the participants and set up the course. Please contact Jane directly if you would like to be a part of this team.

Sunday - Water Stations

Fluid Station (F1) High Priority

Details

1. Setup of water tables, trash bags, coolers tubs.
2. Mix Herbalife H30 according to directions on the canister. Ice Mountain Water will be available for your use.
3. Fill cups with liquid. Both Water and Herbalife H30 mix will go in white Herbalife Cups. ONLY FILL CUPS HALF WAY.
4. Serve fluid to athletes.
5. Volunteers should alert runners as to what they are serving “Water here”, “H30 here”. Cups should be held securely by the top rim so the runner can take it from you.
6. Move along in the same direction as the athlete while the bottle/cup is being passed to them.
7. Continuously Cleanup around the aid station during and after race.
8. All cups must be removed from the street / trail for purposes of safety.
9. After the last athlete has passed each station, volunteers will clean their area (place trash in bags, box leftover supplies) for captains to pick up as they sweep the course.
10. A sweeper truck will be following last runner to relieve all fluid station volunteers and help pick up supplies.
