Early Bib Pickup (Wednesday) High Priority

Course Monitor - Start Line High Priority

Assist runners safely as they exit the South Beach Marina parking lot and guide them onto SE Marine Science Drive. Volunteers will help manage the flow of runners and ensure a safe exit from the parking area onto the main course. The Course Monitor will be stationed near the start area to direct and encourage runners as they head towards NOAA. Volunteers should be attentive and proactive in helping create a safe and smooth race start.

Bike Leader & Course Guide - 5K

The Bike Leader should be familiar with the course and maintain a steady pace to stay just ahead of the lead runners. This role is crucial for keeping the front runners on track.

Medical Team - Oregon Coast Community College Nursing Program

Details

The Medical Team, comprised of volunteers from the Oregon Coast Community College Nursing Program, will be stationed at the start/finish line of the Newport Turkey Trot. The team will ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, providing medical support as needed throughout the event.

Responsibilities:

- Monitor participants for signs of distress or injury at the start/finish line.
- Provide basic first aid and care to runners as they complete the race.
- Assist in coordinating any emergency services, if necessary.
- Maintain communication with race organizers in case of any medical emergencies.


Time Commitment:
Volunteers are needed from 8:30 AM to 10:45 AM on November 28, 2024.

Course Monitor - Ferry Slip Rd / Marine Science Dr

Assist runners at the intersection of SE Marine Science Drive and SE Ferry Slip Road, guiding them according to their race distance. When runners pass this point for the first time, all runners will continue straight on SE Marine Science Drive toward the turnaround. When they return to this spot: 5K runners will continue straight to the finish line, while 10K runners will turn right and head south on SE Ferry Slip Road for their next segment. After completing the second turnaround, 10K runners will return to this spot once more, where they will turn right again to head toward the finish line. Volunteers at this position are essential in keeping runners on the correct course.

Course Monitor - Jetty Way / Brant St

Guide runners at the intersection of SW Jetty Way and SW Brant St. When runners pass this point initially, they will continue straight down Jetty Way toward the turnaround point. On their return, they will turn left onto the paved trail leading under the Yaquina Bay Bridge. Volunteers at this location are responsible for ensuring runners stay on course and make the correct turn after the turnaround.

Course Sweeper
