Duties include: making sure runners and walkers stay safe by directing them to stay on the course, handing out water, taking back cups from runners, saying positive and encouraging comments to runners and walkers and making sure that every participant finishes safely. You MUST bring a cell phone if you volunteer for this position as it is essential that you stay in touch with the race directors if an emergency should arise.

Course Monitor - Lead Bike and Follow Last Participants High Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

May 25, 2020

Details

This role is for a bike rider (yes there are a couple of big hills!) to do two things. The first is to lead out the fastest runners on the course ensuring that they make all turns, etc. So to start, you'll ride the entire route leading the fastest runners. The second role comes a bit later when you'll go back out on course to find the slowest participants. Once you know that our last participant has passed an aid station, you can instruct those volunteers that their aid station role has completed once they clean up the area. Ideally you'll be in occasional contact with the race director by mobile phone to let her/him know where you're at on the course.
