Volunteer Tasks

Trail Clearing Medium Priority

June 10, 2026

June 17, 2026

June 24, 2026

Details

We’ll be meeting at Settlers Cabin Park in the evening to clear vegetation from the race course before Hell Hath No Hurry.

The work is simple. Not easy. There’s a difference.

Volunteers will walk sections of trail carrying weed whips and trimming back overgrowth so runners can actually see where they’re putting their feet on race day. Expect weeds, briars, sweat, uneven ground, and the occasional reminder that the park does not care about your feelings.

We typically start at 6:00 PM and work until sundown, usually around 8:00–8:30 PM.

This is a solid workout. You’ll hike, carry gear, swing a weed whip, and do something useful while you’re at it. It’s also a good way to give back to the trails, the park, and the community that lets us do this ridiculous little race every year.

Bring water, work gloves, eye protection, and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.

The trail doesn’t clear itself. Sadly.

Packet Pickup

June 26, 2026

June 27, 2026

Details

Volunteers will help runners pick up their race packets before Hell Hath No Hurry. This job is mostly smiling, checking names, handing people their stuff, and answering the same five questions until your soul leaves your body.

Duties include:

Check runners in using the packet pickup App
Hand out bibs, shirts/swag if ordered, and any assigned race materials
Verify runner distance if needed
Direct runners to the appropriate race-day information
Help keep packets organized by name, bib number, or distance
Let runners know race-day packet pickup opens at 5:00 AM and closes at 2:00 PM
Remind runners to arrive at least 45 minutes before their race start
Escalate weird questions, registration problems, or existential crises to the Race Director

Please arrive on time and be ready to work with other volunteers and Pro Bike + Run staff. No trail experience required. Basic literacy and the ability to not panic when someone says “I registered yesterday” will be useful.

Packet pickup is the first real contact many runners have with race weekend. Keep it calm, clear, and moving. The trail will humble them later.
