5K • 10K Course Guides/Direction Pointers

Course Guides: 5+ people located at key turns that might be confusing to runners/walkers. Please point and direct runners/walkers on the correct course, as well as smile & cheer them on :) Please see http://www.friendshipcommunity.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/2024-COURSE-GUIDES-MAP_compressed.pdf Make sure you are familiar with the course direction and your assignment, please ask ahead of time if it is not clear to you. Be in place before 8am start time, stay until last walker passes you.

Water Station Volunteers

Provide drinking water for participants. Unless instructed otherwise, pickup water bottles, and cups at the Race Check-In / Registration area (garage bay of Jubilee building, FC main campus), then drive supplies to water station on Landis Homes property, (location marked on Course Map http://www.friendshipcommunity.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/2024-5K-10K-COURSE_compressed.pdf Landis Homes provides a table and trash barrels. Then fill cups of water approx. 1/2 full and have them accessible on the table for participants. You can also stand near the table and hold out cups of water for participants to get from your hand (hold cup from bottom to make it easier for runners to grab). Clean-up water station area after race.

Nurse/Health Care Provider

Serve as a Nurse/Health Care Provider on site in the event of a health care need.

Race Timers/Finish Line team

Details

Team to assist in recording finish times. (tentative setup) 3 people with a race timing app on your phone or provided device. 2 people to tear off tags from race bibs. 1 person to place tags on finisher board in correct order, 1 person to record age group winners, 1 person to monitor race video camera, and 1 floater to help at slowest moving area. (Or some combination of these jobs that makes sense in the moment.)

Course Sweeper

Details

Begin maybe 5-10 min after 8:00AM start time and follow course route. Drive vehicle slowly w/hazards on or use golf cart. Help to verify where the last participants are and that all participants have completed the course. Note: this year a 10K option will be included so those participants will be repeating the 5K course.
Once all 5K and 10K participants have completed or are nearing the completion of the race, you can begin to remove signs/flags on the portion of the course route that everyone has already completed.
