At least 1 more volunteer needed.

The Admin Team keeps the whole operation in order and moving smoothly forward. They sign people in (and give them their goody-bags) on Friday evening and Saturday morning, help with the finish line, keep the campfire burning warm and bright... basically they do it all, and then some, and if this sounds like your thing, they need your help.

Saturday 4:30-6:00am = Packet Pickup

We are fortunate to pair with our favorite family of chefs from the Worlds End and Blackforest races - they provide absolutely the best selection of homemade foods you'll find anywhere all served with pride and a smile. If you have skills, volunteer for a shift and join the team!

Aid Station Captain

Minimum met.

Details

It's a big job, but if you're experienced in the ways of ultra and have the leadership skills to direct a team of fellow volunteers in a runner-focused effort, it might be for you. You'll be responsible for everything that happens at your station, and we expect you to take charge of it, run it smoothly, and be ready to react to whatever challenges arise (all while having a rewarding time with good people in a beautiful place).

Aid Station Volunteer (Crew)

Minimum met.

Details

If you want to interact directly with runners and have a real impact on their ability to succeed in the race, there's probably no better place for you then at one of our aid stations. If you're an experienced ultra runner who's been on the receiving end of a good aid station, then you know what it takes to do the job well - to anticipate runner's needs, help them solve problems, and get them back out on the trail. We need your expertise (and you might find real joy and fulfillment in giving back). Or if you're new to ultra running, this is a good place to get up-close and personal with it, while learning from other team members and the runners. It's not an easy job - the hours can be long and the weather can be challenging, but the gratitude of the runners and the camaraderie of your team will more than make up for it.

**Aid Stations will be assigned based on your preferences and our need. Prior volunteer service and seniority will play a role in how we assign crews. Please indicate in the notes sections of all prior service with this race.

Logistics

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

If you have a strong back and/or a big truck (or van), and don't mind getting a little tired and dirty doing critical behind-the-scenes work, this is the job for you. We'll have you loading and unloading, sorting and stacking, issuing, and hauling aid station supplies, filling water jugs, helping to setup and take down aid stations, shuttling proofers and sweepers around, hauling dropped runners in from remote aid stations, and responding to whatever contingencies arise. If history holds, you'll put up to 200 miles on your vehicle, you'll work hard and long, and you'll sleep well afterwards, knowing that the race couldn't have happened without you.

**If your availability doesn't quite match up with the the time slots listed, sign up to the closet time slot that works for you and indicate your availability in the notes section when signing up.

Dispatcher

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Bring order to the chaos... With 12 aid stations, 300 runners, and over 100 volunteers spread over 63+ miles, inevitably "things come up". One station needs more water, another needs food, another needs help with a canopy that won't go up right, and there are 3 runners who have dropped at 3 different stations, plus the proofers need rides, the sweepers need rides... it can get complicated! With travel times of over 30 mintues to some of the stations (and well over an hour edge-to-edge), it's critical that we build smart loads. If you have an organized mind that can make sense of all those calls for help that come in on the radio and translate them into coherent and efficient "missions" for the loggies who are making the trips - we need you!

**If your availability doesn't quite match up with the the time slots listed, sign up to the closet time slot that works for you and indicate your availability in the notes section when signing up.

Race Sweeper

Minimum met.

Details

Run a section of the race route behind the final race participant to make sure they make it to the next aid station, and give us hands-on assurance that the course is clear of runners behind you. If you are an experienced trail runner with the patient and supportive demeanor to keep that last person moving, and who can deal with any runner issues that arise on the trail between aid stations (including providing basic first aid, if needed), you're the right person for this job.

GUIDE TO TIME-SLOTS:
6:30am - 10:00am = Start to AS2 (14.2 miles)
9:30am -1:15pm = AS2 to AS4 (12.5 miles)
12:45pm - 3:45pm = AS4 to AS5 (9.6 miles)
3:15pm - 8:00pm = AS5 to Finish (15.6 miles)

6:30am-8:00pm = This is a general slot for those who might be doubling up with a friend or just want to be a back up - add additional details to the notes section when registering.

Course Proofer

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Run a section of the race route on race morning ahead of the lead runners to ensure that markers are in place and the trail is clear. If you are a strong and experienced trail runner who can get out early, stay in front of the lead runners, and who is familiar enough with the course to recognize and fix any problems you encounter, you're ideal for this job. You'll carry marking ribbon and a radio, and you'll be the final link in our course preparation process - insurance against last-minute course disasters.

AS 2 to AS 5, 16.5 miles 8AM to 12:30PM

Course Cleaner

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

The race isn't really over until the last flag is pulled and the last accidentally-dropped top of a gel pack is picked up from the trail. This is a great opportunity to get out on the race course on Sunday while it's still marked, and see the beauty of the area without the pressure of racing. You'll be removing all the race markers and any debris (our runners are ultra-conscientious, but not perfect), making it look like it never happened.

Available segments range in length from 4 to 11 miles (and if you want a longer run, you can sign up for multiple sections). Please indicate the sections you would like to run when signing up for this position.

Trail Steward

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

If you (or your organization) have a favorite section of trail and are willing to make a long-term commitment to caring for it - keeping it clean and clear and well-maintained - we'd love to make you a Trail Steward.

Medical Support Staff

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

If you're a certified medical professional - physician, physician assistant, nurse, paramedic, podiatrist, physical or occupational therapist, etc. - we need you! Ultra runners are generally a healthy bunch, but this is a tough race on difficult terrain, and things happen. Whether you work at an aid station or at race base, you'll assess medical situations, provide athletic medical support to help keep runners moving onward, and help them recover when they are done. And if there's an emergency, you'll be there to provide immediate support/triage, and communicate with EMS as needed.
