PRE-EVENT VOLUNTEERS

SET UP High Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Your role is to help set up for the event before it begins. Set up includes putting up signs, tables, banners, materials, and etc. You will need to arrive by 6:30 am to assist with set up.

GREETER Medium Priority

Minimum met, 1 volunteer spot remaining.

Details

Your role is to welcome participants and point them to the registration and sign in table. It is important that you have a friendly and positive attitude and greet participants with a smile. You will need to arrive by 7 am.

REGISTRATION High Priority

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Your role is to ensure each participant is registered and signed in and to handle on-site registrations for those who did not register. You will also be responsible for handing out t-shirts to those who opted to receive a t-shirt when they registered for the 5K online. After registration, your role will convert to distributing snacks and water to participants and other materials. You will need to arrive by 7 am to assist with registration.

PARKING ATTENDANT High Priority

At least 3 more volunteers needed.

Details

Your role is to direct people to parking lots and to monitor parking availability and communicate that with other parking attendants. You will need to arrive by 7 am.

EVENT VOLUNTEERS

CHEERLEADER/GUIDE Medium Priority

At least 6 more volunteers needed.

Details

Your role is to promote and spread the Miles for Malawi 5k spirit! You will be responsible for cheering and encouraging participants and directing them to stay on the designated course. You will need to arrive by 7 am.

PHOTOGRAPHER Medium Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Your role will be to take high quality photos of the event and participants. Please arrive by 8 am.

ACTIVITY STATION High Priority

At least 7 more volunteers needed.

Details

Help to facilitate Malawian activities including teaching people how to drum, balance something on their head, play with homemade soccer balls, learn some Malawian facts, or taste Malawian food. You will receive specific training for your station prior to the event.

COURSE SWEEPER Medium Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Be the last person to walk the course and ensure that everyone has finished it. Report any issues to 5k coordinators.

NURSE High Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Your role is to help with matters requiring minor medical attention. Please bring any relevant equipment with you. We will supply a first-aid kit.

VIDEOGRAPHER Medium Priority

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Your role will be to take video footage during the event. Footage must be taken in landscape mode as it will be used later in that format. You will also be asked to conduct some video interviews with participants.

POST-EVENT

CLEAN UP Medium Priority

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Your role is to help clean up after the race to ensure we leave the site clean. This is a perfect task for anyone who wants to participate in the 5K and also volunteer or someone who can't arrive first-thing in the morning. Please arrive by 10 am.

Details

Your role is to help with any general needs that arise from 8 am - 12 pm.
