Race Course Monitor High Priority

Positioned throughout the 5k course to both provide a good atmosphere and be available to help with racer needs.

Volunteers will be picked up by bus at 7:30 in front of the Knights of Columbus building at 143 Calhoun St off Marion Square. Steve Vettles will be the coordinator and driver for this task. Please Check in no later than 7am. We will then send you over to the bus area to get more instructions.

1. Volunteer Course Monitors may bring a pop-up chair to use while waiting for the runner to arrive but Course Monitors MUST be able to stand after the race begins. A bus will drop off and pick up all Race Course Monitors from their position along the course. The bus will leave at 7:30am.

2. No one under the age of 18 may serve as a Race Monitor unless accompanied by an adult.

Field Monitor and Cleanup Control

Assist in all positions in the square with regards to crowd control, cleanup, trash can monitor and exchange, helping break down the food tent, etc. This team will work close to the Food Tent crew as well as the volunteer coordinator.

Start and Finish Line Setup

Details

This role is in charge of assisting with the actual setup area of the start and finish lines. I suggest also signing up to be Start/Finish line Crowd Control and Monitors as these two tasks will flow together.

Meet at volunteer check-in. You will be sent to the right side of Marion Square where Paul Setti will bring you up to speed regarding your first task of the morning.

Start & Finish Line Monitors

Details

The Start line will have 4 different "Corrals" of racers. Each Corral will be released at different times in order to keep the race fluid, safe, and fun. After the Start of the race the task coordinator, Paul Setti, will direct you over to the finish line to do the same and help direct traffic.

Please arrive to check-in by 730am ask your task will commence at 8am for the race.

Please arrive between 6:15am and 6:30am. Our tasks will include checking in volunteers for every event task we have listed. We will also hand out their volunteer shirts.

As we get closer to race time we will be directing more volunteers to their locations with some haste. We may alter on the fly based on needs from different places as well.

Course water Stop

Please Check in at the Volunteer tent by 7:30 am. Trucks will be available to get those to the water stop located at the Battery. Volunteers can also ride the bus available for the Course Monitors.

The Boy Scouts will be handling a majority of this task. The points of contact are Michael Machowski and Ron Roberts.

Beer Garden Beer Pourers

Beer Garden Crowd Control

Details

Expo - activities include (but are not limited to) handing out race packets and t-shirts to race participants and registering runners during late registration. Volunteers will also be asked to serve as greeters, to help register children for the Kids Run, to assist with the unloading of supplies; and to help set-up food and water stations for Thursday's race.

Where: Volunteers check in will be held at the entrance to the Race Expo Tent (the big white tent) in Marion Square. Look for signage indicating the Volunteer Check-in Station. Volunteers must check in at the designated locations at the start of each volunteer shift in order to receive credit for their volunteer hours. We will be using a QR code to check-in so please bring your phone.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

If you are a student under 14 years of age, you must have a parent/guardian onsite with you during your service hours.
