Volunteers in this position need to be able to follow directions, focus on the tasks at hand, have a basic understanding of how to operate an iPad, lift up to 20 lbs., be detail oriented, and have basic social skills.

Day of Volunteer Opportunities

Packet Pick Up & Race Results High Priority

Details

Volunteers are needed to assist runners and teams who have not yet picked up their packets OR have not registered yet. You will be signing people up to participate, assigning race bibs, distributing shirts, organizing giveaway items (as needed), and other duties as assigned. You will be the first group people will interact with on race day, which means part of this assignment is hyping people up and bringing joy to the event. Volunteers will need to be able to stand, sit, be able to do lifting up to 10 lbs., have a cell phone, have a positive demeanor, and be able to follow the instruction of the person in charge of Registration.

After Registration is complete, volunteers will assist with getting race results displayed and available for the runners of both courses.

5K Finish Line Water High Priority

Details

Volunteers will hand out water to runners at the end of the 5K. Do not stand in the path of runners. Stay next to your pallet of water to prevent any bottle necks. Direct runners to the post-race party area for food, race results and awards. Volunteers will also assist in unwrapping medals if necessary. Please be sure the entire area is clean before departing.

Water should be removed from the pallets and pallets should be dismantled only on an as needed basis. This keeps the area cleaner, safer, and easier to clear the road after the event. Please note that you should not break apart all pallets of water at one time! Only open what you need when needed. This is a great opportunity for families with responsible children, teenagers, or youth groups.

10K Finish Line Water High Priority

Post-Race Food Medium Priority

In this position, volunteers will set up food for runners and manage food distribution for runners after the race during the post-race party. Food should not be given out until they have completed the course.

Volunteer Booth Medium Priority

Details

As a Volunteer in the Volunteer Booth, you will assist the Volunteer Coordinator by helping check people in, helping sign up volunteers, passing out t-shirts to volunteers, assisting volunteers get to their assignments, help confirm that volunteers understand their assignments, and helping the VC with special assignments that may arise.

This position requires strong people skills, the ability to follow direction, some standing, some lifting, some sitting, some walking, and the ability to be flexible.

VIP Reception Room

Located in the post-race area, these volunteers will offer to take pictures for people using the subject’s phones (not the volunteer’s phone), when they visit the different photo opportunity stations. Volunteers will hype people up for the picture and assist as requested.

Volunteers in this assignment will monitor the bounce houses to ensure that attendees participate in a safe orderly manner. Volunteers will regulate the time the participants spend in the bounce house to allow everyone an opportunity to participate and should feel comfortable enforcing specific bounce house rules (that will be given when you check in for your assignment). Additionally, volunteers should be able to stand for long periods of time.

In this position, volunteers will help answer all questions concerning the race (with information provided for you), help pass out awards after the race, assist with lost and found, and more.

A perfect volunteer opportunity for a large group of people, volunteers will assist with preparing water cups for the 5K runners at their first water stop! You will be passing out water and cheering the runners along the route. When finished, please be sure the entire area is cleaned up before departing.

We are also excited to announce that this year we are going to be holding a contest for the Best Decorated/Themed Water Stop! In an effort to bring more excitement to the racecourse, we are looking for groups that make their water stop their own! There will be a prize!
