In this position, volunteers need to be comfortable with standing the whole shift, being social, and getting the crowd and walkers excited.

In this position, volunteers will assist children who are making crafts at the activity table. Volunteers in this position need to enjoy doing art, be able to assist as needed, have a calm demeanor, may have to sit or stand, and enjoy interacting with people of all ages.

Volunteers in this position will walk around the event when the event is finished and help tear down booths, collect signage, assist staff and vendors, and ensure the event site is cleaned up. Volunteers should be comfortable walking, standing, lifting up to 10 lbs, using clippers to cut down signs, and more.

Details

In this position, volunteers will set up and manage food distribution for walkers after the race during the post-race party. Food should not be given out until they have completed the course. After participants have gone through, volunteers will clean and organize remaining refreshments. Volunteers should be comfortable with standing their entire shift and lifting up to 10lbs.

Greeters

Greeting participants as they arrive, volunteers in this position will circulate among the crowd to make sure everyone is headed in the right direction before the walk begins, and answer questions people might have. They will act as guides and be the first face many participants will see as they enter the event space. Volunteers in this position should be comfortable standing the whole shift, talking to strangers, and directing people. Bilingual skills are helpful, but not required

Under the direction of the NAMI Social Media Team, these volunteers will be capturing different aspects of the NAMI Walk, such as team pictures, pet pictures, candid shots, and more. Volunteers in this position must have photography experience, be able to follow direction, and be able to upload all pictures at a reasonable time after the event.

Photo Opportunity Volunteers

Located in the post-race area, these volunteers will offer to take pictures for people using the subject’s phones (not the volunteer’s phone), when they visit the different photo opportunity stations. Volunteers will hype people up for the picture and assist as requested.

Put Me Where You Need Me High Priority

Volunteers in this position will fill in volunteer gaps at the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator. They can be assigned to a wide variety of positions that will be assigned to them on the day of the event when they check in. Volunteers who sign up for this assignment should be flexible in their assignment expectations and have the ability to stand, sit, lift items up to 10 lbs., converse with people, and follow direction.

These volunteers will assist with signing people up for the Walk and checking in already registered participants on Walk Day! Volunteers will need to arrive early and need to be very reliable. Volunteers in this position will be in charge of passing out t-shirts to the teams that fundraised enough money to earn shirts. Volunteers will need to help organize shirt sizes, be comfortable enforcing the shirt rules, and be comfortable talking with people.

A perfect volunteer opportunity for a large group of people, volunteers will assist with preparing water cups for the walkers at their only water stop! You will be passing out water and cheering the walkers along the route. When finished, please be sure the entire area is cleaned up before departing.
