COURSE MARSHAL

Course Marshal 2 - Shady Creek to Hillview High Priority

Details

You will be responsible for directing runners back onto Hillview from Shady Creek, making a critical hard left up Bush Hill.

Please be familiar with the race course, carry a map (see link below), and have your cell phone with you. You MUST take water with you to keep hydrated, and are welcome to take a small chair or umbrella with you to protect yourself from the sun. The area has limited space so keep it to a minimum and please do not block the trails in any direction.

This is a Halloween/Rocky Horror Picture Show inspired race and while it’s not mandatory we encourage you to dress up and have fun!

Location

You will hike up Hillview trail to the second entrance to Shady Creek right before you go up Bush Hill, approximately 3/4’s of a mile from start.

Course Marshal 3 - Live Oak at top of Hillview High Priority

Details

You will be responsible for directing runners onto Live Oak trail from Hillview at approximately mile 2 on the race course—runners will be making a critical hard left turn at Live Oak near the beginning of a downhill on Hillview.

Please be familiar with the race course, carry a map (see link below), and have your cell phone with you. You MUST take water with you to keep hydrated, and are welcome to take a small chair or umbrella with you to protect yourself from the sun. The area has limited space so keep it to a minimum and please do not block the trails in any direction.

This is a Halloween/Rocky Horror Picture Show inspired race and while it’s not mandatory we encourage you to dress up and have fun!

Location

You can hike one mile up Cedar Flats (paved trail) to the top of the park until you see the restrooms on your right. Make a left past the Aid Station on dirt trail until you see the signs for the Live Oak turn, approximately 1/10th of a mile from the Aid Station on left.

If available, you can request to be transported via ATV on race day if it is not in use. Please email trails@saroadrunners.com

Course Marshal 4 - Runner XING at Parking Lot High Priority

Details

You will be placed approximately 500 feet from the start/finish line and direct runners completing loop back to the start/finish line. A police officer will be close by for traffic control to assist in helping runners cross parking lot to finish. You will work in tandem with park police to ensure runners safety.

COURSE MGMT

Course Teardown

October 19, 2024

Details

Assist team with tearing down start/finish area and water stops. We will start course teardown as soon as the last runner has started last loop; or at 4:45pm whichever comes first.

Location

Check in with SARR Volunteer Coordinator when you arrive.

Trailer Team

October 19, 2024

Details

Assist team with setting up race, start/finish, and water stops. Please have your cell phone with you.

Race Support

Parking Marshals Medium Priority

October 19, 2024

Details

Assist runners with parking in an orderly manner. Please bring a flashlight, safety vest and have your cell phone with you. If you don't have a safety vest one will be provided to you when you check in with the Volunteer Coordinator.

50K SWEEP Medium Priority

October 19, 2024

Details

Be available to run and/or walk the course with the final 50K participant during their last loop at approximately 4:45pm or when the last 50k runner starts their final loop. Notify Aid Stations and Course Marshalls that you are the last participant on course so they may begin teardown procedures.

Other Tasks

Pre-Course Check

At least 1 more volunteer needed.

Details

Run the course prior to race start to check that all course markings are in place and no debris on the course.

Course Setup High Priority

Contact race director for password.

Volunteer at Large Low Priority

October 19, 2024

Details

Assist with race day execution as required. Positions will be determined by race director or volunteer coordinator.

Location

Report to the volunteer coordinator for sign in and task assignmente.
