COURSE MARSHAL

Course Marshal 1 - entrance to Shady Creek High Priority

Details

You will be responsible for directing runners onto the first critical turn of the race at mile .50, making a left onto Shady Creek trail.

Please be familiar with the race course, carry a map (see link below), and have your cell phone with you. You MUST take water with you to keep hydrated, and are welcome to take a small chair or umbrella with you to protect yourself from the sun. The area has limited space so keep it minimum and do not block the trails in any direction.

Location

Hike up Hillview .50 miles to the entrance to Shady Creek. You will be standing at this position.

Course Marshal 2 - Shady Creek to Hillview High Priority

Details

You will be responsible for directing runners back onto Hillview from Shady Creek, making a critical hard left up Bush Hill.

Please be familiar with the race course, carry a map (see link below), and have your cell phone with you. You MUST take water with you to keep hydrated, and are welcome to take a small chair or umbrella with you to protect yourself from the sun. The area has limited space so keep it to a minimum and please do not block the trails in any direction.

Location

You will hike up Hillview trail to the second entrance to Shady Creek right before you go up Bush Hill, approximately 3/4’s of a mile from start.

Course Marshal 3 - Live Oak at top of Hillview High Priority

Details

You will be responsible for directing runners onto Live Oak trail from Hillview at approximately mile 2 on the race course—runners will be making a critical hard left turn at Live Oak near the beginning of a downhill on Hillview.

Please be familiar with the race course, carry a map (see link below), and have your cell phone with you. You MUST take water with you to keep hydrated, and are welcome to take a small chair or umbrella with you to protect yourself from the sun. The area has limited space so keep it to a minimum and please do not block the trails in any direction.

Location

You can hike one mile up Cedar Flats (paved trail) to the top of the park until you see the restrooms on your right. Make a left past the Aid Station on dirt trail until you see the signs for the Live Oak turn, approximately 1/10th of a mile from the Aid Station on left.

If available, you can request to be transported via ATV on race day if it is not in use. Please email trails@saroadrunners.com

Course Marshal 4 - Runner XING at Parking Lot High Priority

Details

You will be placed approximately 500 feet from the start/finish line and direct runners completing loop back to the start/finish line. A police officer will be close by for traffic control to assist in helping runners cross parking lot to finish. You will work in tandem with park police to ensure runners safety.

WATER STOP

Hellview Aid Station* High Priority

Details

Bring your ghoulish ghostly team spirit and help hydrate and cheer on runners at the HELLVIEW Aid Station, the only the water/electrolyte stop on the loop. Full service station at the start/finish. We’ll have fun, scary tunes playing. This is at mile 2 on the course, the 2 hardest miles. From here the runners get some downhill relief back to the finish line.

1 mile hike up Cedar Flats paved trail to left of restrooms on Hillview trail. Aid Station is on the left. Last shift of volunteers will breakdown and pack up supplies.

We may be able to ATV you and supplies up to your post. More information to follow closer to event.

50K S(CARE) Station* High Priority

Details

Bring your ghoulish ghostly team spirit and help hydrate and cheer on runners at the 50K S(CARE) Aid Station, Responsible for setting up and maintaining the 50K aid station and bag drop. Be prepared to help folks change socks, let them sit and rest for a few minutes and getting them whatever they need, keeping them aware of time, letting them know what loop they are on, and getting them back on the trail.

At the Harris Mass Pavilion, just inside the finish line. Look for the tent and bag drop area. Last shift volunteers will help breakdown and pack up supplies.

COURSE MGMT

Course Teardown

October 25, 2025

Details

Assist team with tearing down start/finish area and water stops. We will start course teardown as soon as the last runner has started last loop; or at 4:45pm whichever comes first.

Trailer Team

Assist team with setting up race, start/finish, and water stops. Please have your cell phone with you.

Volunteer Coordinator - Day of Race

Details

Manage volunteers day of race. Includes volunteer check-in, making sure volunteers know what to do and where to go for assigned task (i.e. water stop, Course Marshal, Parking Marshal, etc).

Details

Be available to run and/or walk the course with the final 53K participants during their last loop at approximately 4:45pm or when the last 50k runner starts their final loop. Notify Aid Stations and Course Marshalls that you are the last participant on course so they may begin teardown procedures.

ATV Operator High Priority

You must be 21-70 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

This position will operate an ATV to assist with course delivery, transport of EMTs for emergency needs, and tear down of course. The operator must be 21 years of age, have a valid state issued drivers license and insurance.

Meet at pavilion to get keys.

Assist with race day execution as required. Positions will be determined by race director or volunteer coordinator.

Sustainability Stewards

October 25, 2025

Details

You will keep an eye on recyclables and change bags as needed. You will also help make sure that the recycle able aren’t contaminated or mixed in with landfill trash. We take recycle offsite and a member of sustainability committee will coordinate the effort.

We supply gloves, bags, and trash grabbers.
