Aid Station/Water Stop High Priority

Details

This aid station gets hit twice at mile 1.3 and again at mile 2. This is a cupless race. Volunteers will keep Aid station stocked and assist runners by pouring water/Gatorade into the participants cups as they pass. Pitchers will be supplied. Feel free to bring cow bells, noise makers and signs to cheer the participants.

Brackenridge High School, Eagleland Drive at the Riverwalk bridge. Look for SARR signs and water tables.

Lead Bike Medium Priority

Details

You will be responsible for leading runners from the start line to the river entrance on the Arsenal Bridge, and then wait from runners to come back from the King William Street bridge and back, to finish. Please bring your cell phone and keep the Race Director/Med Tent contact info with you.

Finish Line/Medal Distribution High Priority

Details

Assist with finish line tasks which include giving out medals, cold towels to race finishers, maintain finish line water stop, adding ice/water/towels to tub as necessary.

Food Prep/Serve High Priority

Details

Prepare the food (may assist with grilling sausage) for post-race and serve or keep supplies stocked. Ensure that food area is kept clean. Replenish as necessary and reserve some supplies so that food and drinks are available for all participants. Chips and snacks can be put on tables for race participants to get, but please distribute burgers or dogs to each person, one per person.

Please remind non-registered guests that our priority is to ensure that runners and volunteers get food and drinks prior to opening up to them.

Details

Check in volunteers, hand out shirts, have a volunteer briefing at 615am, assure course marshals and water stop volunteers know their locations and review the course map.
Get the course setup and race site setup volunteers to their spots to setup the race. Assist Race Director with any other tasks as needed.
This is a non-running position.

Course Marshal 1 High Priority

Details

Your post will be located at the street level on the West side of the Arsenal bridge (crossover bridge). You will direct runners crossing over the bridge to go down to the riverwalk, where Course Marshal 2 will be stationed.

When course SWEEP alerts you they are the last person, you are finished marshaling.

Details

You will be positioned on the riverwalk level on the West side of the Arsenal Bridge - go down ramp to Riverwalk where you will direct runners South on the Riverwalk. Course Marshal 1 will positioned at street level directing runner to you on the river level. When course SWEEP alerts you that they are the end you may leave you post.

Course Marshal 3 High Priority

Details

You will positioned at the course turnaround near Mission Road and Roosevelt Park (runners DO NOT cross Mission Rd). You will direct runners back towards finish. Bring your enthusiasm and spirit. Dress up, bring cowbells, etc. to support your runners. This is the halfway point of the course.

Mission Rd. at dam/river level. Park at Roosevelt Park and walk over to position. Look for SARR cones and turnaround sign.

Course Marshal 4 High Priority

Course Marshal 5 High Priority

You will be positioned on the riverwalk level of the Guenther St bridge near San Antonio River Authority building and boat ramp. You will direct runners up ramp to street level of Guenther St. where Course Marshal 6 will be positioned at street level. When the course SWEEP passes you are finished marshaling that area. Please retrieve any signage and carefully pull up any “route arrows” on course in that area.

Course Marshal 6 High Priority

You must be 18-99 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

Your responsibility would be to follow the last runner/walker to the finish line. You would start sweeping at 7:40 and you will alert the water station volunteers and course marshals that the course may be broken down. You will need a charged cell phone to communicate with Race Director.

Course Teardown Medium Priority

October 5, 2024

Details

You will be responsible for following the course on foot behind SAG/SWEEP and picking up course signage, peeling Route Arrows off of course, and general course cleanliness. You will communicate with Race Directors any areas of concern.
