Details

Shift Friday evening - Set up : Friday evening, March 3rd after 5 pm &/or Saturday morning , March 4th from 5am -7am. These rockstar volunteers help bring the route to live bright and early. We need volunteers willing to come in the day before to set up as much as they can so not everything is left to last minute. We have two set up times: Friday or Saturday
Shift Saturday Morning @ 5am - 6am helping to check route markers and put out cones (TBD)

Floater High Priority

Details

The floater will the person who can 'bounce' around between the volunteers and offer extra help and assistance. This could also the person who can take over another volunteer's position if someone doesn't show up, needs a bathroom break or has to leave their post.

Course Monitor High Priority

Details

Course monitors will be responsible for remaining near the track to keep runners/ walkers on course and offering them encouragement. Ideally, they'll be positioned at a point in the race where the racers will start to tire or want to quit. Traffic control help identify safe areas to cross on main roads, intersections or at crossroads. Skills needed Loud clear voice, outgoing personality, great sense of direction. No lifting. Able to walk and stand for a 2 hour shift. We ask that you wear a white t-shirt/ long sleeve so that Runners can easily identify you if they need help.

Finish Line Helpers Medium Priority

Details

At the finish line you will help call times out to runner, recording finish times and helping to manage the timer. Directing runners back to registration to collect swag bags and turn in bibs.
Skills Loud clear voice, outgoing personality. No lifting. Able to walk and stand for about a 3 hour shift.

Photography /Video capture

Photography and Video / Map helpers Low Priority

Details

Event photographers will capture every aspect of the event, giving event participants and volunteers more to remember. If you love photography and videography and are great at capturing moments we'd love your help. In this role its important to capture of lots of photos or short clips of the participants as the run through the route. We will ask you to use your own device, upload the imagery after the event so that we can distribute and use for marketing purposes. Help provide route direction when asked.

Saturday Run Check in High Priority

Details

Be behind the scenes and the first to see how the race weekend begins! This is the first stop for runners and walkers as they pick up their race packet. Duties include being the central hub of the event, assigning runners/walkers their bib number, greeting participants with smiles and guidance and possibly coffee. Answering questions/providing race information. Position requires some light lifting up to 30 lbs

Saturday Late Registration Medium Priority

Stationed at the Race starting point table.
Help register new participants, and cross check info of those who say that they have sent in their registration but it has not been received. List any changes in participant information due to typos during data entry. Make decisions on other issues that may come up with the help of the director and get folks to the starting line

Information Booth Medium Priority

Details

Provide information about route, instructions and key information to visitors. Information booth volunteers should have great customer service skills since he/she will be one of the first points of contact that people will encounter. This job will be to provide people with any printed informational material , to answer questions, or to point them in the right direction.

Water Stations High Priority

Details

Water station volunteers will be responsible for handing out water to the racers so they can hydrate before, during, and after the race. This will help prevent dehydration and help keep our racers happy and healthy. Share space with EMT/ FIRST AID. Provide resting spot for those in need. Help set up, restock, collect discarded waterbottles and trash.Pack up remaining supplies and return to the finish line

Saturday Post Race Clean up High Priority

Details

Saturday, March 4th from 11am -1:30pm. When it is all said and done, and we have to say good-bye to our great event until next year, we need volunteers to help tear down the registration area. Duties include taking down signs, cleaning trash from the surrounding area. Standing, bending, lifting 25lbs, getting dirty are all required. After the race when all the equipment has been collected and loaded back to JSAAHC take the equipment back to storage, clean it (as needed), and return to its original places. Let Volunteer manager know of any equipment that needs repair or replacement. Help keep the route clean, help pack in tables chairs, take down signage and collect items to put back into storage.
