These volunteers will set up the starting line and corrals, manage starting corrals, transition the Start Line to become the Finish line, then breakdown the starting line. Includes moving metal fencing, cones, signs, etc.

Details

These volunteers are responsible for breaking down the finish line and helping to pack up all associated equipment. We try to get Jefferson Street open as soon as possible after the last runner finishes. Must be able move quickly and move heavy road barriers. Once tasks completed at Elmwood Park, volunteers will walk to 106 Mountain Ave to finish up tasks there if necessary.

This position will be assigned on the day of the race to fill-in where volunteers have not shown up. Must be flexible, like excitement and be available to move to specific areas on the course. A KNOWLEDGE OF THE COURSE AREA IS VERY IMPORTANT. Flexibility is key!

Course Breakdown

Details

Volunteers will clean race items as needed, organize, inventory, and store race materials in storage facility at 106 Mountain. NEED TO BE ABLE TO LIFT AND MOVE ITEMS THAT MAY BE HEAVY. Volunteers may also need to assist checking the course and making sure all debris is picked up, barricades moved off the road, cones moved off the road and signs, supplies, tables and watercoolers picked up and brought back to storage.

Medical Volunteers

You must be 21-90 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

Medical volunteers will be needed at each aid station and at the finish line. Time of assignment will vary depending on your assigned location. A pre-race briefing will occur at 6:00 am at the finish line/medical tent area. All medical volunteers must be currently certified as an EMT, Paramedic, LPN, RN, PA or MD and must submit credentials prior to race day. If not in contact with Dr. Kasmer, please list your medical license number in the "Note to Race" box during registration. Medical students interested in 'shadowing' please contact Dr. Kasmer at mekasmer@carilionclinic.org Time slots will vary; aid stations volunteers may finish as early as 11:00 am, whereas other later in the day may start at 9:00 am and finish closer to 3 pm. Please let us know your availability.
