Water Station

April 5, 2025

Details

Will be responsible for setting up the water station at 27th Street

BRRM will have already delivered all your supplies (tables, cups, garbage cans, rakes, jugs of water, cardboard etc)

The tables need to be staggered and one on the railing side and one on the opposite side so runners can spread out at each water station rather than it getting backed up at the first one

Fill water cups and set on 8’ table and then put the cardboard on top to create a second row – pending the weather forecast, please only do 2 rows, as the wind is strong and will blow cups over. If the weather is nice, do more than 2 rows.

Volunteers will need to continuously fill up water cups as needed for ~1800 runners (not everyone will get water, but please make sure the volunteers always have a cup of water in their hand in case they do)

Volunteers will hand the cups to the runners as they run by

Runners will have their names on their bibs – we encourage you to cheer them on by name

Set up trash cans next to the tables so hopefully runners will throw cups in the trash cans as they run by

The rakes are for picking up all the cups on the boardwalk and if any blow anywhere else to leave the area perfectly clean.

Clean up – 27th street should look exactly like it did when you arrived, BRRM will pick everything up, but it needs to be spotless – no cups anywhere!!!!!!

Trash bags can go with Leah to take back to The Shack dumpster – help put these in her car please.

Location

27th Street Boardwalk - REPORT DIRECTLY TO LEAH AT 27th

Finish Line Crowd Control

April 5, 2025

Details

Volunteers will be staggered on the boardwalk from the Finish Line shoot (8th and 9th) all the way to 25th.

Runners will have their names on their bibs – we encourage you to cheer them on by name

2 volunteers (Roller Derby on skates) between 23rd and 11th covering all those streets to encourage and direct and cheer on the runners in that long stretch

Any pedestrians walking along the boardwalk near 14th-10th – please ask them to make their way to the bike path/Atlantic Ave as a 5k race is finishing just ahead and we want to keep the boardwalk as wide open as possible. Encourage them to check out the finish line and cheer on the runners!

Remaining volunteers will be staggered along the boardwalk/beach at 17th through 22nd due to the dredging portion of the race to help assist with runners coming off the beach at 17th and back down the beach at 22nd and helping on the boardwalk in between all the runners

Volunteers staggered in the finisher’s shoot will usher runners along to medals, water and snacks so the shoot does not get backed up

Runners may not wait for their friends/family in the finisher’s shoot – they may wait for them at The Shack or they may exit the finisher’s shoot and circle back around to cheer them on at the finish line on the bike path. Runners waiting in the shoot creates a backup and then runners won’t be able to cross the finish line

The volunteers working these stations will be responsible for returning any signage or cones to the finish line after the race ends.

CONGRATULATE the runners on CRUSHING their 5K! This is a challenging, fun and unique course and let them know they did a great job and they earned their free crush (or kid’s crush) at The Shack!

8th Street Boardwalk through 25th Street
