Registration / Packet Pickup

Details

Registrants give their name/show ID; you give them their race bib, safety pins, t-shirt, etc. and answer any questions they have. If someone hasn't registered yet, take them through registration process via supplied laptops.

Water / Aid Station

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

Details

Setup a table and water cooler at a designated spot on the course (also trash bag). Pre-pour water/gatorade into cups, hand them out to runners as they pass. Cheer on/encourage racers as they come by. After the final runner, pick up any trash/debris left on ground "Leave no trace," then walk in course, picking up course markers on way in.

Course Marshal / Crossing Guard

At least 4 more volunteers needed.

Details

The trails we use have many forks and a few spots where we cross dirt roads. We try to mark them all to be obvious to racers, but in some areas (like the road crossings) we prefer to have a human making sure no one goes the wrong way or has an issue with incoming cars. Cheer on/encourage racers as they come by. After the final runner, pick up any trash/debris left on ground "Leave no trace," then walk in the course, picking up course markers on way in.

Parking Guide

There are only 2 designated parking areas Prince William County has approved for us to use, so we need volunteers to direct incoming traffic to these specific areas, and to also make sure people park properly spaced.

Pre-Race Course Cleanup/Marking

At least 2 more volunteers needed.

Details

Our races are in the fall, which means many leaves that could potentially cover the course up and make it difficult to see the where the trails are. This task is to walk the course with a leaf blower to clear the course and to also mark turns with cones, arrows and/or stakes/ribbon.

Depending on forecast, this task may take place day or 2 before race.
