Race Day Volunteer High Priority

Details

SELECT THE DAYS AND TIME SLOTS THAT YOU ARE AVAILABLE TO VOLUNTEER. The races take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on 10/17, so if you plan to participate in the race, please do not select those time slots. Volunteers sign up for time slots rather than specific assignments.

Volunteers available during the 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM time slots will primarily assist with event setup. Typical assignments may include unloading supplies, setting up festival areas, placing course signage, and helping prepare the start and finish line areas. Because these roles often involve moving equipment and supplies, volunteers should be comfortable lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.

Volunteers available during the 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM time slots may be assigned to a wide variety of roles that support both participants and race operations. Assignments could include participant check-in, course marshal positions, bag check, medal distribution, post-race refreshments, festival area support, crowd management, course monitoring, awards support, and other operational needs that arise throughout the event. These shifts are ideal for volunteers who enjoy interacting with participants.

Volunteers available after 1:00 PM will typically assist with event teardown and cleanup. Assignments may include taking down tents and signage, collecting course markers, loading supplies and equipment into vehicles, clearing the course and festival area, and helping return the venue to its original condition.

No prior experience is required. All volunteers will receive onsite training when they check in, and volunteer leads will be available throughout the event to provide direction, answer questions, and ensure everyone has the support they need.

SELECT THE DAYS AND TIME SLOTS THAT YOU ARE AVAILABLE TO VOLUNTEER. Pre-Race Day volunteers help prepare the event before race weekend by assisting with setup, organization, and transportation of event supplies and equipment.

With the exception of packet pickup, volunteer opportunities on 10/15 and 10/16 are focused almost entirely on event setup. Volunteers available before 4:00 PM on 10/16 will likely be working from our event staging office in Pullman, where race supplies and equipment are organized, prepared, and loaded for the event. Tasks may include assembling materials, sorting supplies, preparing participant items, and loading vehicles. Because these roles often involve moving equipment and supplies, volunteers should be comfortable lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.

Volunteers available after 4:00 PM on 10/16 will likely be working from the WSU VETMED parking lot, where they will assist with onsite event setup. Tasks may include setting up tents, tables, fencing, signage, and other infrastructure needed for race day.

No prior experience is required. Onsite training and volunteer leads will be available throughout each shift to provide instruction, answer questions, and ensure volunteers have the support they need.
