Help us get set up and ready for the most fun event of the year! We are looking for strong sparkly people who want to help unload the trucks, set up tents and tables, and help set up for the 5k. This shift is day BEFORE the race day, on Saturday, May 18th.

Truck Loading (Day Before)

Details

This position requires strong super powers and the ability to lift, as we will be loading the truck with all of the GOTR essentials to bring to the stadium. This will take place the day BEFORE the race at the GOTR office.

Field Setup Crew

Are you an early riser like us!? This task may be just for you. This task will require you to use your superpowers to help set up the stadium before everyone arrives. You will help place wave flags and school signs for our teams.

Registration

Get ready to meet some really awesome girls and coaches! In this role, you will hand out bibs and safety pins. You will also make sure the runners and coaches know where they are meeting their teams. Finally, you will help sign up new participants and hand out shirts. This role is a busy but exciting one. Feel free to add your own sparkle!

This shift requires meeting and helping to direct some really awesome people, our volunteers! You will help check in volunteers, hand out snacks and shirts, and help guide the volunteers in the right direction to their roles. You will also make sure they know who to check in with when they arrive. Don't forget to bring all of your hype and GOTR pizzaz!

Coach Tent

In this role you will help assist coaches with their needs such as providing extra bibs or medals, directing them to where they are meeting their teams, and help with general questions.

Ask Me Station

Roam the venue answering questions about the event. We will provide you with FAQ sheet, maps, contact info and all the answers you will possibly be asked. For this role it is helpful if you have been to a previous GOTR 5K events.

Start Line Helpers

Help us with the starting of the waves. You will be holding tape across each group of runners to make sure that everyone is starting in their correct time slots and nobody sneaks by! Cheer for starters!

5K Bike Lead

Details

Using your own bike, lead out the various waves of runners along the course. Make sure course is clear of all other users and let the on course volunteers know that the race is coming. Must be able to bike 3.1 miles.

Start Line & Course Crowd Management

Help direct people where to get where they need to go. Prevent overcrowding at the start line, help direct spectators to the stadium, help get participants to the start line for their waves. Must be able to be direct and be loud. Feel free to use your superpowers to make it fun in the process!

Help to direct and prevent spectators from going on to the track and field while participants are finishing. Answer questions and cheer when able/needed. Enjoy watching all of the amazing finishers complete their race!

Bring the hype and elevate Girls on the Run runners by cheering them on as they take on the course. Must be able to be loud and have a great time.

Parking

This is a key role, and a fun one! You will help to direct drivers on where to park, monitor your parking lot to see when it is full, and help to direct walkers to the start line. You will also be helping to check permits for coaches and volunteers.

Kids Dash Course Monitor/Cheering/ribbon

Help direct kids in the kids dash. Hand out finisher's ribbons. Cheer for them. Make sure nobody else is getting onto the track during the dash.

Help make our girls feel gorgeous for their fun filled day! Who doesn't love happy heads!? Materials provided. Hair spray, temporary hair color. Artistic skills are a huge plus for this role. Be warned, it is a blast but a messy job.

Water Filling Station

Details

We are encouraging participants to bring their own water bottles to cut down on waste at the event. You will be at the water filling station, helping to fill people's personal water bottles. Wearing gloves, you will be the ones filling bottles. Refill big water coolers as needed.

Finish Line Medals

Hand out medals to all finishers and direct participants where to go once their run is completed. Attempt to keep finishers moving to prevent crowding at the finish line.

Finish Line water

Help participants fill their water bottles or cups post race. Direct them where to get their medals and cheer for them. Keep them moving through the finish line chute.

Finish line food

Hand out food to finishers. Restock as you go and make sure people are only taking one of every item.

5K Sweeper

Walk/jog after the last participant starts. Follow everyone on the course and make sure everyone is safe and accounted for. Let the course volunteers know that they are finished. Pick up some signage along the way and cheer for the very last participants. Must be able to walk 3.1 miles.

General Clean Up

Break down tents and tables. Load truck. Take down signs. Pack up shirts. Make sure garbage gets into dumpsters

Day of Race Volunteer
