Description
Salish Wealth Management presents The Longest Day 10K, an exciting race through the streets and trails of Bellingham, Washington. Chip timed for accuracy, this race is out and back with a start/finish at Fairhaven Village Green. After the race, with your medal around your neck enjoy a festive community celebration as we kick off summer together!
For every $30 registration, $10 will be donated to Teach One to Lead One Whatcom County, a community mentoring program teaching universal principles to lead at-risk kids to a life of purpose and potential. Funds raised will allow them to continue growing and reaching as many at-risk youth as possible.

THE COURSE -

The Longest Day 10K gives runners a little bit of everything – city and trail running mixed with the beauty of the Pacific Northwest including breath-taking views of the Bellingham waterfront as the solstice sun begins to set.
Starting at Fairhaven Village Green, you'll head north - towards Mill Avenue – onto 10th Street Trail in the direction of Taylor Dock. Taking the first left before the public restrooms, continue onto the dock over the water along South Bay Trail and into Boulevard Park. Follow the path to the left (waterside) of Woods Coffee - allowing for normal foot traffic on the left - continuing along the path through the park following the race markings and volunteers. At the roundabout take a sharp left onto Wharf Street.  Head down to Pine Street, taking a right turn onto Cornwall Avenue. Run along the sidewalk to West Chestnut Street where you will take a left. Stay on the sidewalk until you reach the Granary Building in Bellingham's developing Waterfront District. Here, you'll turn left onto Central Avenue and continue into Waypoint Park. This is roughly halfway through the race and a water station opportunity. From here continue along West Laurel Street, taking a right onto Cornwall Avenue – following flaggers directions.
On the return, follow the same course back to the finish line at Fairhaven Village Green. This time on South Bay Trail, follow course markers to continue along the parking lot side and back onto the boardwalk. At the top of Taylor Dock, take a right to continue along 10th Street Trail into Fairhaven and across the finish line!

Founded in 1996, Teach One to Lead One (T1L1) is a community mentoring program that teaches universal principles to lead at-risk* kids to a life of purpose and potential. By directly putting qualified mentors into classroom, this non-profit program offers a positive influence that many at-risk kids have never had.

The Whatcom County Chapter of T1L1, lead by Jacob Mack, opened its doors in 2018 and is currently mentoring students at many schools and juvenile court locations throughout the Northern Washington area. So far in the 2018-19 school year, 250 at-risk students in 5 local schools are being reached with many more students and schools on the waiting list.

Thank you for partnering with this great organization by running the Longest Day 10K! There are many great opportunities  for you to continue partnering and make a difference in the lives of young adults through mentoring and/or financial support. Please contact Teach One to Lead One Whatcom County to get connected. Thank you for caring about kids!
