KCSR's GO THE DISTANCE WINTER CHALLENGE

We are coming out of the holiday season!  We love holidays but for many of us, we become sedentary and consume mass amounts of calories! I do not know about you but come February, I've already tried to get start living healthy in January and failed. For me February is the perfect starting date to try again and succeed. So, let's do this together! We are going to work on building a healthy lifestyle, maybe shed those extra pounds or in general just feel better by taking on the 2023 KCSR Winter Distance Challenge.

Whatever your sport (walker, runner, cross country skier, snowshoer, swimmer, etc...) after the holidays is a prime time to set some goals and Go the Distance! Join our Virtual Distance Challenge, choose your distance goal and support training opportunities for Kittitas County Search and Rescue! These training opportunities come in the form of scholarships to Search and Rescue Conferences, Avalanche trainings, K9 trainings, and more. As a 100% volunteer organization, we are putting our miles in to support you! During the month of packing in the miles for whatever distance you choose, KCSR will be right there to provide you virtual cheerleaders, winter safety tips, and tons of fun!

This Virtual Distance Challenge consists of various distances to include all ages and abilities. You get to choose whatever sport you want to put effort into to complete your miles!  The best way to do this challenge is to grab a friend and challenge them to a specific distance and make it through the entire month of February together. The race begins on February 1st, 2023 and ends February 28, 2023. Every individual will earn custom GO THE DISTANCE – KCSR Virtual Winter Challenge swag (YES, there will be swag!). All proceeds will go to Kittitas County Search and Rescue. 

Registration Deadline: February 5th, 2023.

How does a Virtual Race work?             

• Join our Facebook Group: KCSR’s Distance Challenge Group.  We are your support team, providing encouragement, winter tips, and lots of fun!
  Submit your weekly mileage using the Runsignup website.   The individual in each category with the most miles will win a prize!
• Are you hardcore?  Download the Strava app and join our Club: Kittitas County Search and Rescue.  Strava lets you know when someone in your Club gets their miles done so it is a GREAT way to stay motivated. If your friend has completed their miles, now you have to do it!
• In March, we will have a drive thru local pickup for the swag that you worked so hard to earn! We will mail swag as needed but prefer not to.

• 150 miles
• 200 miles
• OPEN (choose your own distance)
