Description
The mighty Columbia River meanders its way through multiple states and two countries. This iconic symbol of America is right here in our area. To celebrate this majestic body of life, we put together a 320-mile virtual challenge for people to participate in. This 320-Mile challenge will test you as a single participant or can be as easy as a Sunday stroll for a team. Teams can consist of either 2, 3, or 4 people. You will have 60 days to complete this meandering path that follows the Columbia River from the Tri-Cities to the Cape of Disappointment. Participants can choose between two main categories, Run/Walk or Multi-Sport. The Run or Walk category is just that, seeing how far and how often you can push yourself to reach the ultimate goal of 320 miles. The Multi-Sport category allows you to get there any way you want; you can choose to run, walk, swim, paddle, or bicycle your way to the finish. Keep in mind that you must complete the 320 miles within 60 days. You can choose to reach your goal in a few long treks per week, or you can get there by completing it with 5.3 miles per day. How you complete this event is up to you!
On the website, we have placed a virtual map so that you can track your progress toward the 320-mile goal. To track your miles, you must log in to your account and post your completed miles. Are you feeling ambitious? Continue logging miles beyond the goal and see how far you can go before the November 23 deadline!
All registrants will receive a short-sleeved cotton/poly t-shirt for entering the event. As a bonus, each participant will receive a custom sticker highlighting their completion of the 320-mile challenge.
Donations: For this challenge we are happy to help our local United Way, by encouraging you, the participant, to donate to a vitally needed program. As you work your way through the registration you will be prompted to donate to United Way. There are multiple levels of donations you can easily choose. Please help us support the United Way by donating what you can. If you cannot participate but still want to donate, simply click on the Donate tab. United Way of Benton and Franklin Counties
The effects of the COVID-19 outbreak aren’t over. Children were unable to prepare for kindergarten and students missed valuable learning experiences. Vulnerable youth have been sought out by predators, and violence has increased behind closed doors. Neighbors have lost jobs, and many businesses are unable to hire back. They need our help.
Giving to United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties means changing local lives by improving access to education, health care, basic needs, and financial stability. RIGHT NOW, you can turn a $10 bill into $20 for your community, as All in WA is matching all donations. Feeling generous? Give $20, and it will turn into $40! Our goal is $1,000, which could provide one year of shelter for a local homeless youth or kindergarten readiness support for 400 toddlers. Give what you can. Anything helps and everything is appreciated.
UNITED, we shape the future of Benton & Franklin Counties.
