Thank you for taking part in the LIVE Elwha River Bridge Run, happening on Saturday, February 6th at Elwha Pedestrian Bridge.
Please take a minute to read ALL of the following, which contains important race day information and safety protocols.
Event Date: Saturday, February 6th, 2021
Event Location: Elwha Pedestrian Bridge (off lf Crown Z Water Road)
Event Parking: Bottom of Crown Z Water Road (PLEASE FOLLOW EVENT PARKING SIGNS & PARKING MAP AND TRAFFIC FLOW - A SEPARATE EMAIL WILL BE SENT TO ADDRESS PARKING AND FLOW OF TRAFFIC). PARKING IS ON-SITE THIS YEAR....LIMITED PARKING. WE ARE ENCOURAGING PARTICIPANTS TO BE DROPPED OFF & PICK-UP WHEN POSSIBLE. THERE IS A DESIGNATED DROP-OFF & PICK UP AREA. THERE WILL BE NO BUSING. PARKING & TRAFFIC FLOW MAP IS BELOW.
Event Time Frame: 9:30 - 12:30 (the last coral leaves at 12:30, but the course is open until until all participants have finished).
Your Starting Corral Time: Check your Registration -
Bib Pick-up: Pick up your bib 15 minutes before your starting corral time.

COVID-19 Safety Precautions
Pre-Run Precautions
1. Arrival Time: To ensure our crowds are as small as possible, please arrive NO EARLIER than 30 minute prior to your starting time. Once you arrive please stay in your car until 15 minutes prior to your starting time. If you are being dropped off NO EARLIER than 15 minutes prior to your starting time. You go collect your bib and then go to the start line.
2. Masks: When exiting your vehicle masks WILL BE MANDATORY at all times prior to your race.
3. Maintain physical distancing (6+ feet) at all times.
4. Hand sanitizer will be available at the packet pickup tent, in portable restrooms and at the finish line.
5. No spectators are allowed. For participants under 18 years old, one adult can be present.
On-Course Precautions
1. After Crossing the start mat, you're welcome to run without a mask
2. While passing, pass rapidly and do not follow. Swing wide to give other runners room.
3. Do not run 3 or 4 abreast. Allow room for passers on either side.
4. Stay to the right of the trail when running / walking.
Post-Run Precautions
1. Masks must be worn at all times once across the finish line.
2. Stay safe and don't "hang-out" after the race at the finish line, please move towards your car once finished and you collected your medal and swag.
3. If you have to go back on the pedestrian bridge after you finish please remove the timing chip of the back of the bib, so it doesn't affect results.
4. All awards will be mailed out within 2 week of the race.
REMEMBER - These are the guidelines provided by the state to ensure a safe return to running.
PRE-RACE INFO:
BIB Pickup:
BIB Pickup will be available from 9:15 am - 12:30 pm on the west side of the Elwha Pedestrian Bridge. You can pick up your bib within 15 minutes of your corral start time. When arriving, if standing in line, please stand on the chalk circles and/or cones, which signifies the proper physical distancing (6 feet) from the next participant. When collecting your race bib, we will have plastic barriers separating you from the volunteer for your safety. All we need is your name to collect your race bib. If you would like to collect for other to avoid groups, we will be happy to provide you with others bibs.
SWAG & Gear Check:
All swag will be given out after the race (at the finish line area). If standing in line to collect your swag after you run please stand on the chalk circles and/or cones, which signifies the proper physical distancing (6 feet) from the next participant. When collecting your swag, we will have plastic barriers separating you from the volunteer for your safety. All we need the tear off on the bottom of your race bib. If you would like to collect for other to avoid groups, we will be happy to provide you with others swag as long as you have the bottom tear off from their bib.
WE WILL NOT BE PROVIDING GEAR CHECK, SO BE SURE TO LEAVE ANYTHING YOU DON'T NEED FOR YOUR RUN IN YOUR CAR.
STARTING YOUR RACE:
To again ensure a reduction in crowds both at the start and on the course we've limited the number of participants in each start corral. Each corral is open for 15 minutes, we don't want you to feel rushed. Please come the the start line during your designated time. Once at the start line, pick a "Starting Cone" that has been placed 6 feet from all others. Once there, the starter will start the waves (2 participants / wave) with the front group starting, then the next, then the next..... Please make note to stand in the correct line. One side will be for 5K and the other side will be for 10K.
WAIT! Where do I see my wave start time? It's located at the top of the email where it says "YOUR START CORRAL TIME." It if happens to be blank that means you have not selected a start time and you need to do that. Please refer to previous email to select starting corral time.
ON-COURSE
5K & 10K participants will be intermixed throughout each wave. Directional signage will be placed on the course for both races (and there is map below). The courses are predominantly shared, to ensure you run your race, please follow the signage specifically for each of the two distances.
**There will be no water/aid stations. If needed, please provide and bring your own water.
POST-RACE
Once you complete your race, your mask must be worn while within the race area (anywhere that isn't in your car). We will be handing out medals as you finish. We will provide "self-serve" bottled water. Please help yourself to one as well as hand sanitizer (first please). Then move along to the swag pick-up. Then move away from the finish are to not overcrowd.

There's still plenty of time to register (although slots are limited). If you have friends/ family that would like to join they can register up until Friday, February 5th or until it is full. Onsite registration is unavailable.
Nervous that your start corral is too crowded? When you arrive - please inform the starter of your concern. He will move you to another corral that is either empty or has less people to ensure your safe start.

Covid-19 Activity Operations Requirements for the Onsite Elwha River Bridge Run
Covid-19 Activity Operations Requirements for the Onsite Elwha River Bridge Run - Below are the requirements if we are able to hold an onsite - in-person event for the Elwha River Bridge Run on February 6, 2021. As we learn more information we will be sure to share it with all of our participants.
- All participants have been offered a virtual option for the event, for participants who would like to participate on their own and not share a common course with other participants and would prefer a virtual course of their own choosing. Participants have been emailed several times to switch to virtual event at no additional cost.
- All pre-registration has occur online. There will be NO same day in-person registration is allowed.
- There will be staggered bib pick-up times to reduce congregation and will ensure 6-foot distancing in any cue lines. In addition there will be a plastic protection barrier between the participant and the volunteer distributing the bib.
- We will have a rolling start line (participants will have a pre-assigned starting window) with no more than 2 people leaving every 15 seconds and no more than 200 total participants starting per hour. There will be no more than 3 consecutive hours of starting waves on February 6, 2021. Waves will be sequenced by pace with faster racers going first, then working towards the slower racers to reduce likelihood for congestion or passing on the course. The starting area will be limited to no more than 50 participants at any time awaiting their staggered starts (there is plenty of space on the bridge to spread out and keep social distancing.) Participants waiting for their start time will maintain at least six feet of distance from all other people and wear face coverings until their race begins. Cones will be used to assume 6’ of social distancing at all times. Additional participants must wait in their vehicles or away from the course until their start time approaches.
- We will be limiting the number of employees and volunteers that are necessary to supervise the event,. These persons are not considered “participants” for the sake of calculating starting waves and are allowed as needed. Employees and volunteers will wear facial coverings and maintain physical distance in compliance with current guidelines.
- Participants will make an effort to remain 6 feet from other participants on the course as much as possible. If participants need to pass another participant they will pass them in a manner that is safe and makes the moment of passage as brief as reasonably possible. Similarly if a participant is being passed that participant must allow for passing such that distance between participants can be achieved in as brief amount of time as reasonably possible.
- Spectators are not allowed. However, participants under 18 would require a parent / guardian to be in attendance. The support person must always remain at least 6 feet away from all people aside from their participant and may not visit the start or finish to avoid congestion or crowding in these areas.
- There will be no congregation of more than 5 people allowed at the turn around, hydration and nutrition stations at any one time. Participants will obtain hydration and nutrition supplies and then proceed. Hydration and nutrition station crews will maintain 6 foot separation from participants, and each other at all times as much as reasonably possible and wear facial coverings.
- There will be no congregation allowed at the activity start or finish area. Participants will leave the activity area when finished. There will be no awards ceremonies or after party activities allowed in the starting / finishing area.
- There will be a Volunteer Run the Peninsula Information table with information about 2021 events and swag for purchase. There will be a plastic protection barrier between the participant and the volunteer in charge of the information table. The volunteer and participants will remain 6’ in distance at all times.
- Lines at portable toilets will be managed such that there is at least 6 foot of distance between all participants waiting in lines. The race will provide hand sanitizer at all restroom stations.
- Run the Peninsula will retain registration data for 30 days after the activity in order to aid possible contact tracing.
- PPE provided for all employees and volunteers. Cloth or medical masks will be worn. Gloves will be worn by employees and volunteers when interacting with participants or equipment.
- Volunteers, riders and rider helpers will be screened prior to entry the facility.
- Before loading people on bus participants will be asked the following questions
- Do you have any of these symptoms that are not caused by another condition?
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- Recent loss of taste or smell
- Within the past 14 days, have you had contact with anyone that you know had COVID-19 or COVID-like symptoms? Contact is being 6 feet (2 meters) or closer for more than 15 minutes with a person, or having direct contact with fluids from a person with COVID-19 (for example, being coughed or sneezed on).
- Have you had a positive COVID-19 test for active virus in the past 10 days?
- Within the past 14 days, has a public health or medical professional told you to self-quarantine?
- We will discourage all carpooling to the starting area (from people not in the same household).
- We will encourage participants to be dropped off at the starting area.
- For participants that cannot be dropped off participants will park and be advised to stay in their car until their assigned starting time.

Description
Join us in the 1st of 5 races in the 2021 Run the Peninsula Road Race Series, Elwha River Bridge 5K / 10K. The 5K and 10K will be an out and back on the Olympic Discovery Trail.
The 5K and 10K will start at 9:30 am Saturday, February 6th at Lower Elwha Bridge, Port Angeles, WA
