FAQs
Q. How much $$$money can I win?
A. That depends. The $$$ will be distributed amongst those that last the longest in 2024.
Q. I don't use social media, can I still participate?
A. Yes
Questions about posting.
Q. Can I edit my posts/synced runs?
A. Yes, only if done before the end of the day - not another day.
Q. What time do I need to post/sync by?
A. 11:59 pm PST.
Q. Can I remove my previous posts?
A. If you do, you are no longer eligible for the cash prize at the end.
Q. What if I forget to sync? Can I sync the next day and still be in the running to win?
A. Yes and no. Please try to sync daily - you will get a notification indicating you are out of the challenge and will now need to submit additional proof to be an eligible finisher.
Q. I won’t have wi-fi/service, can I post when I get back into range?
A. Yes and no. Again, please try to sync daily - you will get a notification indicating you are out of the challenge and will now need to submit additional proof to be an eligible finisher.
Q. I forgot to post/sync, am I kicked out of the challenge?
A. You’re no longer eligible for the prize. We encourage you to continue working on running every day.
Q. I don't have a smartwatch (Garmin, AppleWatch, etc.), can I still participate?
A. Maybe. See next question.
Q. Can I post on Strava, Runkeeper or another app?
A. Yes, as long it is an automatic sync (gps, treadmill calibration). No manual entries.
Q. Can I manually enter a run?
A. Sorry, but no - it must be a synced run from a smartwatch.
Q. What is the website you are syncing from the smartwatch and/or running app?
A. Final Surge.
Q. Will you verify that I ran a minimum of ONE MILE per day?
A. Yes, you will be notified that you are out of the challenge if you do not sync your mileage.
Questions about running.
Q. Do I need to show my pace anywhere?
A. No, but your stats will need to show the time it took you to complete the one mile requirement. Ok to include more miles with the one mile requirement.
Q. What counts as "proof" that I ran?
A. Any upload that can sync to a website/app Final Surge.
Q. Can I run/walk?
A. No, the challenge is running a minimum of 1 mile every day.
Q. I’m not “fast” is that ok?
A. Yes, no particular pace is required.
Q. Does treadmill running count?
A. Yes, please calibrate your smartwatch or running app. Again, no manual entries.
Q. Do I need to post WHERE I run?
A. No
Q. What happens if there's bad weather, snow, etc.?
A. Run on a treadmill. Be safe & if it's taking you over 18+ minutes to run in the snow, go inside and run.
Questions about the challenge.
Q. How will I know if I’m out of the challenge?
A. I will send you an email indicating this. Please don’t argue with me that you “forgot” to sync, couldn’t run, etc.
Q. I changed my mind, can I get a refund?
A. Sorry, but no. No refunds under any circumstances. Consider your $$$ a donation towards the pot.
Q. How will you be able to tell if I'm running vs walking?
A. HONESTY is the best policy. Since you have to sync your runs, it wouldn't make sense when you post any dramatic shifts in pace. No cheating - you will be automatically removed & in the end, you will only be cheating yourself. Be aware that your fellow competitors can report you if they feel you are being dishonest (an investigation will ensue).
Q. Why are you no longer doing the #hashtags or screenshots to social media?
A. Change is good! We'd like to offer the opportunity to those who do not use social media on a regular basis.
Q. Why are the rules so hard?
A. They’re not. But yes, you do need to make an effort if you want to win.
P.S. The address shown is only a placeholder. There are no in-person meetings. This is an ONLINE Challenge.
