Major Major Major Major Summer 5K Series

A low-key summer 5k series in Seattle.  Races are $5 each, or $16 for all four.  All races will be chip timed, and the lowest overall cumulative time wins the net profit from the race series. There are no medals or race shirts.  Course is one lap (+.3)  around Green Lake on the asphalt path.  It is a flat, fast course, great for a PR.

Bib and timing chip pickup will take place near the start at the parking lot in front of Bathhouse Theater.

HAVES: Race bibs, Safety pins, reusable RFID chip timing.  Registration transfers allowed. Fruit punch gatorade (lemon-lime is banished) + ice water drink station at start/finish.  Online results stored indefinitely with runsignup, text alerts available for race results.

HAVE NOTS: Medals, race shirts, drink stations on the course, balloons, loudspeakers/bullhorn, food.

NITTY GRITTY:  Participants that don't race all four in the series will receive the last finishing time in the races they miss (DFL plus 5 seconds).  Being one of the only racers to complete all four or scorching one or two could win it.  Open book finance, all costs computed and shared as series progresses and at series end.  Race director is ineligible for any prize, profit, or income beyond direct expenses: bibs (17 cents each), rfid tags (20 cents each), safety pins (12 cents for 4), Gatorade (14 cents per 12oz serving), grand finale is the processing fee from runsignup ($2 each for $5 signup that we pay, but cheaper if you buy multiple races for for multiple people in the same transaction... so do that.  It won't save you money, but it will put more cash into the pot for the winner.  Current pot (net of expenses) after race 1 of 4 is $106.73.  The big break that we have is that a buddy has lent out his rfid timing equipment and I have been learning the ropes with how to set it up and operate it.
