HOW IT WORKS

  • Sign Up. It's $10. Each registration = 5 trees planted via One Tree Planted.
  • Between 9/21 and 9/30, go for a run/walk. If you can't run or walk because of smoke or otherwise, see below for a list of alternatives. You will submit your miles for only ONE run/walk between 9/21-9/30, so make it a long one!
  • For every mile of your run/walk, we will donate $0.50, spread out among four charities, listed below. We've got a cap of $2,500 (which means 5,000 miles), let's hit it!
  • Report your mileage here.
  • Invite friends, family, and that neighbor you keep giving 'the nod' to when you see them to participate in Run For Change.
  • If you're able, consider making an additional donation, here.

WHY?

It has become increasingly clear and painfully obvious to us that our situation as stewards of the earth and as a civilized society that every individual, family and company must do more to avert the worst of the coming damage that is coming our way. 

The diffused benefits of our industrialized society cause acute harm to the few in the present but will do acute and debilitating harm to the many in the future. 

We must stop viewing the small sacrifices that we do today as sacrifices and instead as our collective contribution to the gift that we can give future generations; namely, a planet that is healthy enough, perhaps barely, to sustain life indefinitely. We must put aside the thoughts of the inconvenient, the impact in the here and now, and the short-term thinking that has led us to our current precarious situation.

If you opt for these instead of running, you've got 4 hours to complete as many as possible!

Burpees: 30 = 1 mile
Air Squats: 50 = 1 mile
Lunges (1 per leg): 50 = 1 mile
Dive Bomber Pushups: 30 = 1 mile
Situps: 60 = 1 mile
A Day of Zoom Classes with Your Kids: 1 day = 1 mile
