Description

A fun 5 Mile run that combines the two fantastic trails built by the Skagit Trail Builders: Pumphouse Trail and Hill Creek Trail.  These two trails are currently just connected by the Pumphouse Bridge (soon to be connected by a middle bridge which will NOT be part of this run.)  2.75 miles of trails in the Wild accessed by a one mile grassy access road.

Why Wild? Bears, bobcats, cougars, eagles, Coho salmon, bald eagles, Red Tail hawks, Great Blue Herons, beavers, and more make this one wild local trail system but not to worry, it is winter!

And best of all it is FREE if you sign up before the end of 2024!!!

Pumphouse Bridge 5 Mile Trail Course

Runners will run up main road and down the road where they will take a right onto Access Road to where Skagit Trail Builders have built about 2.75 Miles of trails:  Pumphouse Trail and Hill Creek Trail which are connected by the Pumphouse Bridge.  Runners will run up the Access to road to end of property where they will take a left at the upper TH to access the Pumphouse Trail then run down to Pumphouse Bridge where they will cross over to the new Hill Creek Trail.  Runners will run this trail counter clockwise which will include the bonus trail in the meadow before hooking back up with main trail that leads back to the bridge and then to the road and back down to the road where they will retrace steps to the finish line after looping around the barns. NO DOGS OR STROLLERS ON THIS COURSE!

STB Double Loop Trail Detailed

Using a map from the Skagit Trail Builders, I have shown the route you will be running on the trails that are now connected by the Pumphouse Bridge.  Last year we had the Pumphouse 5K but now I have crossed that bridge to include the Hill Creek Trail and add just about 2 miles to make the run a 5 Miler!  You will notice at one point runners might meet one another on the Hill Creek Trail before the bridge.  Runners just need to stay RIGHT at that point!

The WILD side of Hill Creek!!!

Pumphouse Bridge Trail Age Categories

These categories can be modified depending upon entries.  If more younger kids enter than maybe split that category!!!

Wooden etched Awards

Event though this is a FREE event, Skagit Parks and Recreation has provided awards.  Originally they were for the XC Relay but with a little tweaking, all is good.

Thanks to Starbucks

This year, Kindra and her crew from Starbucks will be serving hot beverages after the event. We appreciate their contribution to a fun filled morning at Northern State Recreation Site.
