Traveler Virtual 5K Run & Walk

Registration for the Traveler Virtual 5K Run & Walk is OPEN NOW. The future of outdoor events continues to evolve and Hood Canal Events is excited to present our 1st virtual 5K race this April 25th - May 2nd, 2020. Wait.... Umm, what is a virtual race? This is a race that can be run or walked from any location in the United States you choose. Yes, it can even be completed from an indoor treadmill in Why Not, North Carolina - this is a real place BTW! The benefit of a virtual race is that you can make a difference by being a part of a larger active community, all while participating on your own terms. The Traveler Virtual 5K Run & Walk will be raising funds to make a contribution to Shelton High School Spring Sports this year - help us create and post banners recognizing Seniors that have missed out on their final spring athletic season. "Will You Go The Distance Too" - check out the race rules below, and let's all get out for some healthy activity while supporting our community!

TRAVELER VIRTUAL RACE RULES:

1. #BeTheTraveler - Download the Strava app at, https://www.strava.com/mobile and track your run or walk showing the completed 5K (3.1 miles) distance. You will be able to race on your own schedule starting, 4/25 at 10am, and must complete your run and upload by 5/2 at noon.
2. With current restrictions please be conscious of "Social Distancing." You are able to participate alone, or with a small group of people - just make sure the 6' rule applies, you sneeze/cough into your elbow, and please wash your hands before and after the race. 
3. Pin your race bibs visible on your shirt and document your run or walk with before and after photos - be sure to start your tracker and record your time and distance.
4. Post your results to our results platform using our Virtual TXT Service - sign up for this with registration.
5. Connect with us on Social Media with your name and the statement "Will You Go The Distance Too!" Check in at Hood Canal Events with your race day photos on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and be sure to tag your photos #BeTheTraveler.
6. Remember, this is not an officially timed race. We want you to have fun, get out of the house and BE THE TRAVELER!

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RACE PACKETS:

• Race Day Info.
• Numbered Race Bib
• "Selfie Stick" for Photos
• #BeTheTraveler "Koozie" for beverages
• Prizes awarded to: Top Male/Female Finishers, Best Photo & Best Video (15sec. videos get creative & have fun), and Furthest Distance from our town of Union, WA.

FEES & SHIPPING:

• $18 + taxes & reg. fee - shipping only available to United States participants. Race packets containing the above items will need to be purchased with your registration by April 18, 2020 and will be post marked for delivery on April 20, 2020. The cost for shipping is included in the registration fees - United States addresses ONLY, We cannot ship outside of the U.S. Participants are responsible for providing the correct shipping address during online registration. If the race packet is returned to us for any reason, the participant will be responsible for paying the second shipping fee.
• Race shirts are available with registration for an additional $20 - MUST BE REGISTERED AND ORDERED BY APRIL 10, 2020.

IMPORTANT:

• Traveler 5K Run & Walk registrations are NON-REFUNDABLE, NON-DEFERRABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.
• Promotional discount codes are not valid for this event.
• A 10% charitable contribution will be made to Shelton High School Spring Sports after all event costs have been covered in full.
