Description

“TREATMENT TRAIL 2014”

Treatment Trail LLC sponsors “Treatment Trail 2014” benefiting the GO BO Foundation and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW). There is an endorsement letter from CHW available upon request.

A 200-mile, 9-day trail honoring a pair of spirited, strong and fearless youths from Door County, Wis., who fought life-threatening illnesses while traveling hundreds of miles to receive treatment at CHW.

We want to continue their inspiring journey – as well as those of other Wisconsin children - who have humbled us through their resolve and courageousness.

Join us as we travel theirtreatment trail from CHW to Sister Bay. We are raising funds for the Go Bo Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Door County that assists families with children fighting life-threatening illnesses, and for CHW, one of the leading pediatric facilities in the country, for its continued care and research.

Honoring Others in Our Community……

We are also honoring Christopher Lorona, another Door County youth who was diagnosed with a germinoma brain tumor at the age of 14.  Chris started his treatment at CHW in April, 2012.  Chris traveled to Milwaukee weekly from Sister Bay.  He had multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and follow-up appointments. He continues to travel to CHW for MRI scans every 3 months for which he will have to do for at least 3 years.  Chris’s treatment was successful and currently there is no sign of the tumor.

EVENT DETAILS:

Treatment Trail 2014

BEGINS: Saturday, June 14, 2014

A 9-day, 200-mile “Trail” from Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin to Sister Bay Park, Sister Bay, Door County, Wis.

You can’t/don’t want to/don’t want to even think about running 200 miles? Join the club. The club has LOTS of people. Don’t worry; you don’t have to do the entire trail to be part of this incredible event. You can do a 5k. And you can run or walk.

We do have a small – very, very small – group of runners who will be covering the entire distance on foot. We call them crazy. You can call ‘em whatever you want.

If you can’t be to Milwaukee for the start of the event or to Sister Bay for the finish line festivities it’s okay. We are coming to you! Just give us a few days and we will hold a 5k run/walk event at nine different cities along our “Trail.”

Each 5K will be its own event – but also serve as a fundraiser for our overall endeavor.

Each day will end at a predetermined city along the trail.  We will meet and celebrate the day’s triumph at TBD location and time.  The following day will begin with a 5K in that city at 8 a.m. before we move on to the next location. The following is the daily schedule:

Saturday, June 14: Start in Wauwatosa (5k) finish in Port Washington

Sunday, June 15: Start in Port Washington (5k) finish in Sheboygan

Monday, June 16: Start in Sheboygan (5k) finish in Manitowoc

Tuesday, June 17: Start in Manitowoc (5k) finish in Denmark

Wednesday, June 18: Start in Denmark (5k) finish in Green Bay

Thursday, June 19: Rest Day in Green Bay

Friday, June 20: Start in Green Bay (5k) finish in Algoma

Saturday, June 21: Start in Algoma (5k) finish in Sturgeon Bay

Sunday, June 22: Start in Sturgeon Bay (5k) finish in Sister Bay (5k).

Each event will include water and snacks at the finish line. If you want to be part of a BIG finish line festival, come join us in Sister Bay. We will have a large picnic-style lunch with live music, drinks and much, much more. Make your reservations now to be part of the Treatment Trail finale!

Can’t make it to any of the running events, then how about a donation to the cause? Any donation of at least $25 will receive a “Treatment Trail” t-shirt.

FINISH LINE – 1 p.m. at Sister Bay Park, across from Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant & Butik

Treatment Trail 5K, join us for the last couple miles…..

The GO BO Foundation

Bo Johnson was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia, EM/AML, at the age of 12. He battled this disease for a year, and lost on Sept. 28, 2012.

The GO BO Foundation is Bo's gift to us. It's a way for each of us to give back. The GO BO Foundation isn't an individual person or a single family, it's a community of people gathering together because Bo reminded us what true courage really is.

Prior to his illness, Bo was a normal active boy, enjoying life with family and friends. The illness that took his life could NOT stifle his spirit or courage. Facing the most serious medical condition, Bo chose to show all of us what it means to "live life to the fullest & enjoy every day.”

Bo reminded us what true courage means, and why one boy can inspire a multitude with nothing more than a smile and a dream to help others.

Treatment Trail 5k - Denmark

This is the 5th event on Treatment Trail 2014. Come help us create so much enthusiasm people can hear us in Door County (our final destination)! We need as much energy as we can get as we continue on this 200-mile course, raising money for the Go Bo Foundation and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. All proceeds from our events will benefit these two organizations.

Registration is limited to 75 total participants. There is a price savings if registered before May 10. There will be day-of registration, but the cost is $40 and there is no guarantee of a T-shirt. So don’t wait. Register now!

Location: Sheboygan Country YMCA, 812 Broughton Dr., Sheboygan, WI, 53081

Registration: Price is $25 per person, ages 10 and under are free. Price increases on May 10. Participants under age 10 are encouraged to donate a new or gently used book, DVD, video game or board game to be used in resource center of CHW.
There will NOT be any registration refunds due to personal injury or cancellation of event. Why would we cancel? Don’t worry, we won’t, but sometimes things happen that are out of people’s control. But please remember, this is a fundraiser.

All participants will receive a performance style T-shirt. There will be refreshments at the start and finish lines. Awards will be presented to everyone. The award is joining this event and helping us raise funds for two incredible organizations. Thanks so much.

This is not a race. There will not be any timing chips or race bibs. If you want to time your run, please bring a watch. Walkers and strollers are welcome.

Volunteers of course are always welcome. If interested in helping out, please email treatmenttrail@yahoo.com.

You are welcome to join as many of our 5k events as we you wish. You must register for one event online, then email us at treatmenttrail@yahoo.com and let us know what other event(s) you are interested in joining. Sorry, you will only get one T-shirt.
