Description

Change of Date:  We listened to your concerns and heard you loud and clear.  Due to an overwheling concern that water temperatures would be too cold on May 18th, we worked with local governments and changed the event date to June 1st.  You can now expect to swim in waters between 70-75 degrees and wetsuits are strongly encouraged but not required.  We hope you will take this opportunity to kick your summer off with an open water swim with an excellent chance of ideal conditions.

The 1st Annual Booth Lake Memorial Swim will take place on June 1st, 2024.  The swim includes options of 2.5 and 5 kilometers.  Start the summer off with an open water swim in the clear waters of Booth Lake.  Booth Lake is a smaller, clean water lake (204 acres) within the beautiful Kettle Moraine region of Southeastern Wisconsin.   Booth Lake is very well protected for the best swim conditions possible.   Water temperatures expected to be between 70-75 degrees.  Wetsuits and open water swim buoys are preferred and encouraged in all Divisions.

This swim coincides with "Memorial Day" celebrations.  We ask each swimmer completing the Booth Lake Memorial Swim to swim in memory or honor of that "special person" you wish to remember for Memorial Day. During the registration process, you are asked to dedicate your swim in "Memory of Anyone of your choice". Your finishing award will be a military dog tag with the name of the individual you are swimming to honor.

Registration will include a swim cap, timed results, beach towel, finishing award, food and drink, age group awards and overall awards for each distance.

Swim course:  The swim course is a 2.5 km lap around Booth lake.  Therefore, the 2.5 km race is one lap and the 5.0 km race is two laps.  The 5.0 km race starts at 8 am and has a two-hour and 15 minute cut off time.  The 2.5 km Race starts at 8:30 am and has a one-hour and 45 minute cut off time.   One nutrition aid station will be on course near the start of the second lap for the 5 km swim.  Swim is supported with life guards and kayakers, swimmers are not required to provide their own personal support.  If you wish to have your own kayak as personal support, please contact the race director at boothlakeswim@gmail.com.

Swim Requirements:  All swimmers should have some open water swimming experience and be able to swim a mile under 60 minutes in a pool.  Swimmers must pick-up their race packet in person the morning of the race (Saturday, June 1st, 2024).  All swimmers must sign a waiver the morning of packet pick-up.  No swimmers under the age of 18 years of age are allowed.
