Join the Elm Grove Community Foundation and presenting sponsor, O'Donoghue's Irish Pub, along with your fellow underachievers for a day (actually more like 15 minutes) of glory and celebration to kick off Elm Grove's Oktoberfest! Race proceeds will benefit the Elm Grove Community Foundation. The, uh "race" starts at 3:30 P.M. (check-in begins at 2:00 P.M. at O'Donoghue's Irish Pub) and will finish....well, at 3:45 P.M. at the Oktoberfest beer tent! SPACE IS LIMITED SO REGISTER NOW!
The 0.5K Oktoberfest Fun Run is a tongue-in-cheek event that is accepting of all types of 'runners' but particularly geared towards the "pour runners". This race is more of a walk/run beer parade from O'Donoghue's Irish Pub to the Village Park Oktoberfest grounds to kick off the festivities. Children are encouraged to participate and will enjoy root beer along the course. Adults over 21 will enjoy some great brews along the way.
ABOUT THE RACE
The uh, "Race" will start at O'Donoghue's Irish Pub - check-in will take place in the parking lot at 2:00 P.M. and the "race" will start promptly at 3:30 P.M. Because they are awesome, our friends at O'Donoghue's will provide all participants with a free beer (beer station #1 of 3) before the start of the race, so get there early. Yay beer! Because of the "physical" nature of this event, there will be pre-"race" stretching and aerobics to get the heart pumping. There will also be a costume contest, because who doesn't love seeing their neighbor dressed as Richard Simmons?! The um "race", will then head across Watertown Plank, down Elm Grove Street, to Juneau where you will encounter beer, beer and more beer. At the corner of Legion and Juneau (beer station #2 of 3) participants must stop for one more beer, because Wisconsin, AM I RIGHT?!). The um, "Race" will continue into the village park where you will finish in a blaze of glory at the Oktoberfest tent (beer station #3)...which will conveniently be filled with MORE BEER! There will be a "Racer's Podium" (ie. the Oktoberfest stage) so we can all re-live the experience, talk about overcoming our hurdles, and take selfies to post on social media "I DID IT! I'M A FINISHER! I WILL DO ANYTHING FOR BEER!" The Elm Grove Community Foundation will offer a free beer at the end of the race. Yay beer! Yay finishers! Yay selfies!
